I'm back. Been away for a while. What's up you guys?

Not much... there hasn't been much happening lately other than a few different conversations about various topics such as Linux and @noob404's mystery project

I remember reading those a few pages back. But now that I was away a few days, I couldn't follow the discussions, because of this forum layout. It makes it a bit hard to use with the screen reader a big threads like this one. Even though I've been here for a few years, trying to figure out the best ways to navigate this forum with the screen reader is quite challenging, but it's fun and rewarding at the same time. :)

A screen reader huh? If its not too insensitive to ask, what caused you to need one and which do you use? I have Age Related Macular Degeneration in my family

I am totally blind and thus I need one. About what I am using, I use NVDA from Nv Access since it is free and open source, and I don't have the funds to pay for expensive screen reading software.
I hope I answered your questions.

Sorry to hear that. But, I am glad that we have people from varied spectra on the thread and generally on LET, as well.
Can you tell me what features you miss on opensource screen reading apps?

    Thanks @noob404.
To answer your question. I didn't missed anything now. NVDA, the screen reading software that I'm currently using right now is powerful enough for my computing needs. The beauty about NVDA is it's open source, so anyone can write add-ons / extensions to extends its functionality. The point that I maid earlier is just to let @DaDeveloper knows that in fact there are multiple screen readers software out there, both free and paid. Sorry if that statements confused you or anyone who read it.

Oh I was just curious and picking your brain to see what features make a good screen reader. Thanks for the reply.

No problem. I'm always happy to answer when someone interested in learn more about screen reading software. Some people when I told them I'm blind, they're actually not believe it. Which make sense after all, because we're just a stranger on the Internet. But on the other hand, no one would lie about something like that. Unless people who are mentally ill or wants attentions would do that.

Of course, someone could spam to change that but after xpress7 , it's like 900 comments to catchup so I do feel like those names will forsure be the winners. So I'm giving y'all the early congrats!

I might start behind the scene deal with either dadev or frobsy to secure my pad...

    Gonna use a reshipping service?

Yup, gonna be a bumpy ride this time as well.

Why not just have someone from US bring it to you?

We need to have someone in the US in the first

True that. Wrong of me to assume that. But, everytime, I have an item shipped from another country, I am in panic mode 24/7 till the courier mails me regarding the customs charges.

Ha ha.. I have the same experience. I won something free 2 years back some router something... . but after the parcel came from India post.. they charged customs more than the price of the product. I rejected it :D

Happened with me as well. My record was 200% of the product's offer price as customs duties alone.

I'll try to answer it to the best of my abilities. But, please excuse my English since it is not my first language. So apologies if I express it in a wrong way.
The challenge that I often faced while teaching or / explaining computer to people with physically challenged is icons and layouts of any apps, the start menu, or the desktop in general. Let's say I teach my students about the layout of the desktop and taskbar. This hard part because explain to them, you have to know where the desktop is positioned at, and where the taskbar is located on the computer's screen when you turn on the computer. Especially young kids they're always curious.
And another thing, when teaching office applications to young adults, the part that I am struggle the most is clipart. Inserting the pictures into a PowerPoint documents is not something that blind people with screen reading software could do, because the screen reader cannot detects where the picture is located in the document, and editing the document would result in the character is overlapping with the picture inserted.
This is the situation that nobody could fix at the moment, but maybe in the future.
For icons of applications, some people has wrote various add-ons to get image descriptions with AI services, but it's still limited.
For other general tasks, like programming or sysadmin, blind people are able to work with those just fine. All the command line outputs are read by the screen readers. I know this, because I learn a little bit of programming and basic sysadmin task just to host and play around with WordPress.

So, a lot can happen in the next 26-ish hours but as it stands right now:
@noob404 will take the gaming pc.
    @TrK will take the arcade1up.
3rd (ipad) and 4th (dedi) is close, like 16 messages close, so it's unknown between @DaDeveloper abd @Frobsy
    @xpress7 will take the credit

    Our customs suck.. :(

Nah. That was my very first PC. Holds a lot of memories (not talking about the storage drives ).
