How is this Administeative fee? This is a card processor fee.

    There is difference amongst both

Well, in my opinion, oversold cpu resources is much bigger concern than administrative fees

Well, that wasn't the comment, right? 😀

In LET/ hoating world, without overselling, is next to impossible. So, this is expected.

Plus, the only way one can recoup costs is volume.

Offers like these are built with the hopes of selling huge and cramming in less nodes to get the best... attract customers (with slightly degraded performance) and still making enough to continue keeping the lights on.

Plus, another unit I have heard to see overselling is the steal. Not fully indicative but I consider is a significant contributor

How much is the average steal?

I have no issues with overselling, just be transparent about it so that buyers can make informed decision about suitability of their use case.

This is applicable whether cost is US$5 or $50 per year.

Never seen one provider posting on their website or offer here saying "we oversell".

Kinda detriment to their business I feel.

But it's good thinking. It needs to start somewhere...

well, that is why, in my experience, the GB5 (or GB6 for 1.9gb+ vps) score becomes a good factor.

I prefer providers putting like 2 vCores (0.5 dedicated).

Don't see any padded on my checkout.

My state prohibits these padded fees... (so far)...
Which is why i was surprised to see a fee added on top

I'm in the EU where it's actually legal to pass on payment processing fees.

They have just 2 payment:options, stripe being the most obvious. If that will add fees, they'd be more transparent about that.

Granted, even when added still a good deal.... Depending on performance.

    Yeah
It's legal in US. But being a giant country made up of 50 other small countries/ states, things become so muddy.

But yeah. Let's see how the next few months pan out in terms of performance.

For Texas, stripe could charge state sales tax whereas PayPal is likely not to.

I prefer Apple card (Apple Pay is linked to Apple Card) due to better consumer protection.

ps — 50 US states + Washington DC + Commonwealth of Puerto Rico + Northern Mariana Islands + US Virgin Islands

I am running their VMs from previous offer. They are still going strong. Could have opted for them but 10GB space is not sufficient for my usecase :(

But Good Luck with Sales :)

Would you mind sharing the current GB5 test for “strong” vps?

Here is GB5 score for what I call "strong vps".
GB5 Single core score of 1500

    Processor : AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16-Core Processor
    CPU cores : 2 @ 4192.084 MHz
    AES-NI : ✔ Enabled
    VM-x/AMD-V : ✔ Enabled
    RAM : 1.9 GiB
    Disk : 49.1 GiB

    Geekbench 5 Benchmark Test:
    ---------------------------------
    Test | Value
                    |
    Single Core | 1500
    Multi Core | 2824
    Full Test | https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/22751302

I will try to get it to you today once at PC.
But when it comes to $6/Yr VPS, I don't really look Benchmarks, but just evaluate that VPS is able to perform some small tasks & run basic apps smoothly. I see my VPS doing it without any issues. No downtime & network issues as of now. So performance to price is strong... :)

  • What do you think the people who bought 12 euros/year at the end of last month will think?
