Do you want Ram or bandwidth? @bullfight9902 got both as he loyal customer and has much more servers with us and he also bought both packages.
Ram
I politely asked if they would be willing to assign me a /64... Maybe they would, but no, they didn't!
They assigned me a /48 instead!
I think I appreciate this host more and more each day.
Interesting, I hadn't put them on my shortlist mainly because they specifically listed /112 in their offers.
What is that one IPv6 address for every person on earth?
Is it routed?
An on-link /48 is not more useful than an on-link /62, because as soon as you start using more than a handful of addresses, the switch NDP cache would overflow and you'll get an abuse ticket.
On-link.
However my use case is different from yours. A handful of addresses is enough for me, but if there's an option to have them from two or three /64, I'll take it.
For example, older IRCnet servers often don't support more than two connections from a single /64 (or one IPv4 /32 - relic of the distant past).
One idle eggdrop to generate PISG stats for a channel and one bouncer, and I'm done. God forbid having another user/family member connected via the bouncer...
With an additional /64, I can still make a quick visit to the network via Irssi or something similar without getting "Too many host connections (global)".
I know all this might sound like gibberish to you, but yes, a /48 is cool even on-link for some completely non-problematic use case.
Dear Boss, can I receive a double memory reward with my current purchase?
double Ram
Dear Boss doesn't have a crystal ball ;-)
Thank you for today's example of why IPv6 doesn't have wider adoption.
What does my personal and very specific use case, since around 2004, have to do with yours? Especially since the person I responded to has a completely different use case, and that's perfectly fine. It's just silly to generalize it.
edit.
Ah, blunder. I may have understood you wrong - If that's the case, I apologize to you. If you're talking about the limitation I described above, it's an IRCnet limitation, not an IPv6 limitation, and it's exactly the same for IPv4 /32 (two connections per one IP).
A single /64 IPv6 is treated correctly as one end user, so it's pretty much the same as a single /32 IPv4 - and that's perfectly fine.
The problem I described above is not an IPv6 problem, but the mentality of old IRCnet operators who haven't moved on in 25 years. But in any case, they treat IPv6 and IPv4 the same, so it's not like IPv6 would be at any disadvantage here.
Almost hit you with something in my mind about this. He just saying that he got TIL moment(s) with what both of you saying. Just ignore him
Same, good to know thanks!
Actually, a router in the ndn6 network uses only three IPv6 addresses:
Nowadays, most of my servers are arranged like this:
If the server has only /112, the upper /113 goes into the LXC containers, the lower /120 is used by the host.
If there's a larger assignment, each container still gets /116 for uniformity, but the host takes its /120 from a separate range.
What I cannot work with is "8x /128" kinda assignment, because both the LXC container and the Docker network need subnets (even if it's smol).
It isn't possible to make a Docker network out of individual addresses.
Invoice #8825
Double ram rather than bandwidth if you can.
Very much appreciated.
Vienna!!
Done!
Invoice id?
You have Amsterdam so bandwidth is doubled.
Thank you.
Order #8827 Thanks
Hi @Hosteroid, I'm just about to purchase a
Klompen in Amsterdambut I just wanted to ask about the VAT. I am located in the USA and will be paying with US credit card (USD), do I still need to pay the VAT? Thanks!Yes.
Good luck mate.
@Hosteroid Dang it, was trying to order Blitzen in New Jersey throughout the day but kept kept getting
Remote Transaction Failure. Please Contact Support.on your website. Now it's out of stockSome weird Stripe bug, happened to me once on a different provider. You need to add the card as a payment method and then use it to pay for it.
Ok thanks I will try that next time. I hope NJ is restocked!
Edit: I tried to add the card but every time I hit the "Save Card" button it logs me out of the Hosteroid website. I noticed it constantly logs me out even when navigating to other pages on their site which was also making it hard to place an order.
@Hosteroid, May your holidays be filled with peace, joy, and prosperity that lasts throughout the New Year and beyond!
@Hosteroid Got it as part of the Xmas Giveaway !
Not sure if eligible for double B/W, Order Number: 3577398844
Thank You for the Giveaway & Merry Christmas !
No its not!
