    Anyone else facing IO degradation on node6 commodore plan? It used to be around 20+ gbps for 512k and 1m,

    i don't think this is degradation, its already excellent as it is. 2GB/s is mad I/O speed

    Interesting. You don't have any degradation. Now am wondering is it something to do with my OS installation, will have to do more tests.

  • Is it really possible to have such fast write speeds with 1M blocks? Can someone test the following command?
    dd if=/dev/zero of=test_write bs=1M count=4k oflag=dsync status=progress && rm test_write

    Currently, there are no complaints of course, but I just suspect that the high speed (2xGB/s) might be due to caching.

    Just a few things you should keep in mind when comparing fio and dd tests: fio is multithreaded and uses libaio, so it's expected to be faster, and as it uses direct IO, there is not more caching involved in comparison to dd.

  • Anyone else has issues with netboot not being able to automatically configure/connect network?

    In 1 of 10 cases it does work, but most of the time it fails with no ipv4 connection.

    It did this for me when I first got the server, I even had to restart and manually enter IP info manually a couple of times until it clicked

    Install any system (even if it is not in SolusVM) with AES-NI and VM-x/AMD-V enabled:
    1. Inside SolusVM, click “Reinstall” and specify “linux-almalinux-9-x86_64-gen2-v1.gz”
    2. While the reinstallation is in progress, specify “CDRom” as “netboot.xyz.iso”, change “Boot Order” to “(1) CDROM (2) Hard Disk”, change “Network Card” to “Virtio” and also enable VNC
    3. Open the “Network” tab and select your IP address
    4. When the VM starts, connect to it via VNC
    5. When the network configuration starts - select the first (0) adapter, and after that rewrite the parameters from step 3
    6. Select the OS you want and continue with the installation.
    7. After installing the OS, unmount the disk in “CDRom” and change “Boot Order” to “(1) Hard Disk (2) CDROM”
    8. Restart the VM
    9. Configure the network. In the case of Debian, it is configured in the file “/etc/network/interfaces” and applied with the command “systemctl restart networking

    # I'm not showing the whole config here - just the adapter part.
    iface ens3 inet static
        address XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
        gateway XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
        netmask 255.255.255.224
        dns-nameservers 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4

    1. (Optional) Install qemu-guest-agent:
    apt update && apt -y install qemu-guest-agent

    Tested on kvmnvme06
