ColoCrossing Dedicated Server (NY) - $119.04/year

plumbergplumberg Veteran, Megathread Squad
edited December 2024 in Service Transfers

Fantastic server if you missed the $119.04/year deal from BlackFriday 2024 - details listed below.

Specs:

  • E31270 (4c|8t) (upgraded from E31240)
  • 32GB RAM
  • 1TB SDD (Samsung Evo 850)
  • 40TB / Month @ 1Gbps
  • Buffalo, NY
  • IPMI: Yes

Renewal date: 2025-Dec-02
Recurring price: $119.04/year

Transfer price $145 USD (Paypal - Goods & Services ONLY)
(This includes transfer fee $20 + PayPal Tax)

Process:

  • Buyer makes the payment
  • Seller will initiate a transfer ticket and share it with the buyer
  • cue elevator music (This process may take a few days to a couple weeks - ColoCrossing does not give these tickets the highest priority)
  • Buyer receives the server in their account
  • Buyer profits

Some notes about my experience:

  • Yes, I received a million $+ invoice for this server initially. It ended up getting voided. So, requested them to re-initiate it. Took time for a response and found another server in mean time. So, this is ready to go to another home
  • Technical issues - Support response time was within minutes of raising a ticket
  • Installed Windows Server and used it for over a week and it was super responsive
  • Installing Windows over IPMI is doable, but you need patience as the Java based setup will be slow. But, it works flawlessly
  • OpenWebStart - Kraken allows seamless usage of the SuperMicro IPMI. No need to worry about getting a 32bit Windows/ Java. For me, jdk1.8.0_232 worked
  • The control panel at ColoCrossing is not the best. But their recent comments suggested upgraded panel coming soon
