Yabs?
I was wondering why the icon looked different this morning
Or just use Signal
this is not about signal and all the disadvantages that signal brings with it. this is about threema.
they usually run christmas promos as well. Current price is actually pretty good, so grab it, if you were thinking about it before.
Threema users there aswell ?
requires a phone number, threema doesnt
however simplex doesnt either and its free
The problem is that I can use it, how do I get my friends and clients to use it too? Unless they are already involved....
Threema is the best, with or without any discount, 4.99$ cheaper. If you don’t pay then you become the product, also there’s Silent Circle, I used them for years.
Original announce:
“Twelve Years of Seriously Secure Messaging
Exactly twelve years ago today, on 12/12/2012, the first Threema version was published in Apple’s App Store, laying the foundation for secure and privacy-friendly mobile communication.
To celebrate this anniversary, we’re offering the app at half price today! 🎉”
Signal doesn't require a number anymore as far as I know.
I've never heard of anyone using Threema though. Is it more popular in a specific region? Didn't know it had a noteworthy user base and wide support.
I may be biased, but I think it's more known in the EU; at least a third of my acquaintances have or have had Threema at one point in the last 12 years. I think it got less and less used when WhatsApp implemented e2ee
it still does, but you can now choose to only be discoverable via username, like telegram
therefore still a no-go.
simplex looks interesting. trying the console-version right now.
Ah I see. I've heard of it years ago, I just never had anyone ask for my Threema contact so figured it's popularity was more region specific similar to how in South East Asia "Line" is very popular, though WhatsApp seems pretty popular too.
Ah, didn't know that. Was using it for a long time even before the update. I thought you could sign up without a number now.
Threema is fantastic, and I’ve been using it for years. Each year, they host an Easter egg hunt where participants have the chance to win prizes. Most entries win free Threema license keys for Android.
