What are you guys hosing in your vps for personal use ? So far I am only using Nextcloud, Mumble, Jellyfin, and few wordpress instances. It would be great to learn few new stuffs.

    swizzin for everything

What specs do you actually need to run it a few things? I had it installed on my iHostArt VPS (before my VPS container kept getting lost because of multiple hardware failures and then the owner accidentally deleting it).

depends what you want it for?

just the swizzin panel itself is lightweight; its the respective apps that matter.
1C1G VPS is more than enough with wireguard, plex without transcode, rtorrent.

    Thanked by 2user123 r3k
  • Is there anyway I can run wireguard on ipv6 box but connect with ipv4 client? My ISP still doesn't support ipv6 yet.

Not without some extra layer/service that will do translation for you.

    No

    No proper VPN support

    Docker for eveything

    swizzin has wireguard

    Server, not client, right?

yes. isnt it supposed to be server for your devices or something

Yes but I don’t want that

I want to route torrent traffic through VPN

    Thanked by 1r3k

Can you please suggest those services so I can try and see if it works?

If you want one of those ready-to-go things you could try tailscale.

  • @dejavu51 said: Many deals looks unsustainable to me with really low profit margins. How are these providers offering these prices? Am I missing something here

Not sustainable in the long run, but can be a way to quickly get some cash (to pay for new hardware for example) and have a justification to hoard on IPv4s. The provider doesn't necessarily make money directly with these customers, but it can be profitable, like he got his brand known/spoken about, maybe ordered some new hardware or scaled up, saving some money (renting a 24 U cabinet can be cheaper than renting the space to host 15 1U servers, same goes wirth bandwidth).

If most customers buy for no other reason than the scary FOMO, nodes are mostly idling and some of them won't renew in 1 or 2 years : at that point you'll have some precious IPv4 available, and the nodes will be paid for = time for profit.
