I've gotten cheap dedicated servers in the past, but to get a cheap one, the location usually isn't ideal. So I go back to a vps in a better location, which is cheaper and better suited.

Back in the day, I had a ~ $25/month server at Corenetworks (not around any more), and later a ~ $60/3 months server at Delimiter. I remember a long outage at Delimiter.
