What's the cheapest possible VPS (yearly)

Just curious to know what's the cheapest available option there. Could be, like, 1GB HDD and 256MB RAM, lol.

So there are all kinds of deals. Black Friday had many 1gb ram $7/yr deals.

Most of us don’t use these for production. Or only personal production etc

10 years ago I paid $4 for 128mb ram deals. They deadpooled 6 months in

I got a Onidel VPS for just over $3 a year

    1GB RAM, 1 vCPU, 20 GB NVMe and 1 IPv4

    If I remember correctly

  • The cheapest is like $3.50 per year on the pony, I think it's Gullo on a NAT VPS on OpenVZ.

  • My cheapest VMs:

    8.48$/y (1C 1,5GB 30GB nvme (IPv4)
    5$/y (1C 1GB 50GB nvme (IPv6 only)

But I tend to prefer boxes with 4GB RAM for peace of mind

My cheapest VPS is $1/yr with dedicated IPv4, 1 7950X core and 512 MB RAM in Singapore from @rsk, and because I have won some credit there as well, it's free for the next decade or so.

That's a pretty good deal. It is still available?

My cheapest was ~$5.5/yr with 128M RAM and a dedi IPv4 from BlueVM, just before it went deadpooled back in 2014.

The promo is still on LEB now. Check https://lowendbox.com/blog/bluevm-5-63year-128mb-5-63month-1gb-openvz-and-a-kvm-in-various-locations/ for more info.

    Update:
Just remembered the cheapest I ever got was from XVMLabs. It came with 7 IPs, and cost only $2.99/yr, on top of OpenVZ, ofc.

I hopped on that deal as well! Not a lot of horsepower, but nice to have another point on the internet where you can test from!

  • Mine cheapest VPS is
    4x vCore / 4 GB / 40 GB … for $8/year

  • There are so many attractive VPS, but unfortunately my cheapest VPS is $10 per year

  • Oracle cloud is FREE for lifetime.

$6 per year with IPv4 KVM/ But NOW they takes one time setup fee.

  • And here I was, thinking that $4/y ipv6 only was a great deal

Cheapest would be free, you can get free here.
Either your lucky or you just apply for free vps.

However, otherwise anything below 15$/y with decent spec's.
Even as low as 6$/y and less, for years.

    Thanked by 1tototo
  • 1vCore i7, 1GB 1IPv6 only. 6.07/y

  • 2 core 0.5G 20GB 1.99$ for 6 months ipv6 only

  • You can get free tier VPS from Google cloud or Oracle. I find the Oracle one really reliable for running a few python scripts that push to my webserver. Other free tier options like Alibaba or Amazon are for 12months while I've run Oracle and Google Cloud ones for a few years.

  • Besides free from oracle I have 2 VPS's @ $6/year that have IPv4:
    DataIdeas 1c/1GB/20GB US-South
    H2Nexus 1c/1GB/10GB Germany

  • I have a free ARM VPS with 24 cores, 24 GB Ram, 100GB Disk from a old Oracle free tier.
