I am proud to say that after doing all the calculation, my VPS + Dedi count is still under 100!

Lucky you, I am slowly running out of IP addresses on my mesh network.
I hit that well before 100.

To be fair, I even reject like cheap sub 15$/y deals when I already got a node or 2 there.
Except is like special, in terms of connectivity or such.

In some locations it does make sense to have 3-4 nodes but most of them don't.
Besides wasting my IP space and traffic it doesn't do much for me, also my money.

Just make your IP space /16 - problem solved.

Its not really a thing like you running out of IP's because the private allocations are not big enough.
Its more like I think I am running out of IP's.

    Each wg link, needs 2, IPv6? +2.
So 4 if you are unlucky.

Each node has a /24, so 128 links, if you are unlucky 64.
    Why just a /24 per node? Well it uses ID's e.g 10.0.5.0/24.

Would IPv6 solve my issues? Yes.
But I didn't figure out a clean way to just allocate lets say a /23 or /22 per node with a single ID.

Well, the private allocation are kinda to small too.
Lets say I do a /23 per node, somehow manage to glue it together so it doesn't look very ugly.

192.168 and 172.16. is to small.
    From 64 I would go to 128.

The only range would be the 10ner.
    If I would give out a /16 per node, I hit 256.

But I bet by then, my OSPF is gonna struggle a bit.

Seems like we just cannot be the most viewed thread :( - and the purple thread gonna catch up our views

If it’s anything like last year, those purple thread deals will be up and available all year, up to the day they get swapped with 2025’s, and they’ll still be doubling resources the entire time and the thread being bumped along the way to quote invoices. Don’t think there’s any competing with that at this point in the game. They’ve still got 11 months for that thread to go.
