Why are the VPS providers here so cheap?

I've been using Hetzner since 2018 and I'm overall happy with it. Although the prices are already low, I see that here we’re talking about a fraction of what I currently pay per month. There are even VPS under $1 a month.

What's the catch?

I’m genuinely interested in supporting EU local hosting companies. Is Hetzner overpriced for cloud VPS?

  • I have a NetCup VPS for 0.84 / month

    1 vCore / 1 GB / 30 GB
daily data bandwidth of 2 TB

I am yet to see any VPS provider beat that

  • Naah Man, its just you get what you pay for, there are also premium providers who are reasonably priced. What you are seeing are just the Black Friday deals, that only comes once a year. For that reason providers sometimes tend to give unsustainable deals & sometimes even good ones tooo.

Hetzner and other known and trusted providers are generally good for production rest are like gambling [ and for idling  ]

Why do you think it's called LowEndTalk? What did you think this forum would be about?

may be bought on deals. I think, VPS works as good like social equalities, there is one abuser, one heavy user, as many poor Idlers

I'm here after switching from paid Plesk to CloudPanel to save as much as possible on my server costs. I’d say I'm already on the point of no return

Not necessarily true in all cases

    • NetCup $0.84 / month rock solid VPS
    • Amazon AWS Bombay $2.73 / month
    • LET premium providers such as @Clouvider are well known for A+++ support

  • If you want a recent for instance...

I purchased (2) $12/year servers in the past 2 days.

One I had to submit a support ticket to get activated. Got activated. Up and running and using the server with zero issues. Performance:Price is fantastic and support was more than happy to help me promptly (before I was even a low end, paying customer) and to me that says a lot about a company. Shout out to @Hizakura.

Then the other server... 13 hours from purchase to delivery and to this moment in time, I'm still unable to even get the control panel for the VPS to load.

So there may be great deals that happen to pop up from time to time but just know you can't always expect greatness at low price points. When you do find them, cherish them by not submitting any tickets unless it's completely necessary. Man power is the big expense and when you're having to cater to a bunch of $12/year people, it's not conducive to a successful business.

    How much was data bandwidth?

There are few providers who allow 60-75 TB monthly bandwidth

Because we love wasting our time and money trying to make an infrastructure up and running as cheaply as possible.
But in fact we spend three times as much money as we would buying from reliable providers, because we don't want to miss out on any bargains, and half the stuff we buy is crap we end up not using even though we've paid for the year.
I think I've summed it up.
    Welcome !
