Yeah, a car really makes things easier in the US. In Sweden I never felt like I needed one day to day so I just rent whenever needed

Hotel was in a really nice area (well, semi nice)
But as americans know (not swedes), one block away, literally a minute’s walk, can be the difference between bad areas and luxury stores
From the airport, we approached the hotel from that ’wrong’ side. A few men walked up towards us, very close to the hotel, with some behind us as well, I was just thinking ’okay first day all our stuff’s gone, hopefully there’s a swedish embassy close by’ lol
Just as they got close, a police car showed up, and slowed down right by us, the men in the front whistled to those in the back and they all just headed off. In to the hotel we went

But on a serious note, mugging or robbing is bit more prevelant now than earlier. When I first visited US, I was told to keep some $20 in cash at all times on me. Should something go crazy it may help...
I guess every city has some bad neighborhoods which one needs to be careful with.
But fear not, everyone can get a gun (I think)

@emgh glad nothing happened, I got scammed when I visited US for the first time, and I actually don't feel as safe travelling alone in the US.
When did that happen?
Lately the United States is becoming unsafe because of the large number of people who are coming, but in some states it is more restrictive.
