  • mikrotik OS o.o, why a router distro on a vps?

  • It can also be installed on a PC and will turn it into a router with all the necessary features - routing, firewall, bandwidth management, wireless access point, backhaul link, hotspot gateway, VPN server and more.

But why.. ? you can install most of this with a normal Linux OS. except for the obvious ones like Wireless access point.. unless the server physically have a wireless NIC :P

  • i need vpn server on mikrotik [pptp-l2tp-sstp]

It's hell of a lot easier to just install RouterOS than cobble it all together yourself.

    Why CentOS, why Ubuntu, why Fedora . . . . ?

Because its what the OP needs. A VPS can do more than host websites and torrents.

On fact, it can be fun to see a real leb (32mb ram) with a openwrt image

There's something to be said for that, but sometimes you just want shit to work!

  • Is this for a private VPN usage (i.e. your own), or for a public VPN?
    What's your budget?
