Can I install a software on storage box plan?

no root access on storage box, so i dont think we can install anything.

does the box have mysql preinstalled?

Yes, that aspect is as any other shared webhost.

@labze Any BF CM flash deals? Looking for some 7950 or 9950 VPS.

  • Impressive upload speed using scp to server ftp1 - storage box 500GB. Uploaded 634 MB in 4 minutes, aprox 20 mbps.

Purchased a second ones and got ftp2. Thanks @labze !

  • lol

/home2 usage on ftp1 goes down to 25.55TB now, I remember it was around 37TB yesterday. Have some accounts migrated to ftp2?

Actually I did. Got 2 16TB boxes on each, and moved files (deleted files on 1 and re-uploaded into 2 to be exact)

    @Izax said:
Anyone here with an account on both ftp1 and ftp2? Does the performance diff by a large margin?

For now, I think yes. I'm always able to push 20~30MB/s in total for ftp2, but getting random speeds of between 30MB-4KB/s

    Thanked by 1Izax

Congratulations, your upload will be legally able to drive, own bank account, get married... so much potential

    Thanks.

I am also able to get up to 30MB/s on ftp1 but performance vary from time to time. Hesitated if I should get another on ftp2, think I should just go ahead and try it out.

  • Hi,Is that normal that i purchased the storage box on 24 Nov,and still didn't receive the service(Blesta panel showing pending) as some user having their service activated on ftp2?

We pretty much keep having capacity for less than 5 servers across all services, except these new plans. With such low capacity it hasn't been possible to do other offers.

2 MB/sec is some impressive speed??? I am getting 30MB/sec on a Hetzner storage box or iDrive e2 (S3).

I understand this is probably half the price of those, when looking at the price per TB, but also much slower.

You’ll likely have to wait for some kind of economic recession where demand craters and hosts run fire sales to get any money they can.

Probably better to find another provider.

  • I've got mine activated. 1TB. Just idle for now.

  • ftp1 load average goes from 20 to like 70, ftp2 is around 3
ftp1 keeps freezing, terminal locking up. I guess it will take a while until it stabilizes.

  • @labze any coupons for CM available (like in 2023 event)?

I like your service in Finland and already extended it to next year.

Well, it's relative. My ISP's max limit is 30 mpbs

@labze - In the future, is it possible to expand the existing storage box, or will separate ones need to be purchased only if required?

  • Tried to upload 40Gb worth of backup via SFTP, took around an hour, pretty solid for me.

  • I skimmed the whole thread and haven't found this, but how do we disable password SSH auth on the storagebox? I got my ssh key to work but for obvious security reasons want to disable password login. Some people referenced "there's instructions somewhere on this thread" but either I missed it or haven't seen it.

    Thanks!

You can upgrade it at any time.

You can't and it's likely not something we'll do much about. Disabling SSH password does not really increase security as it'll still be possible to login via the panel with password.

With CSF, ModSecurity and DirectAdmin brute force protection it should be near impossible to gain access to your account through SSH unless your password already has been compromised through other means.

  • I have a problem with webserver of the 1TB box: Using mit IP-adress I always get the message "webserver is functioning normally", an no webspace contents. Can everyone tell mit whats the problem?

You don't have a dedicated IP. You can't access the content using the IP, you'd need a domain for that.

i installed it but just logging into the web ui is a mission

Nextcloud is crap. Use tinyfilemanager or files.gallery

Wow the files.gallery is awesome, why is it underated, never seen anyone recommend it (on Reddit/HN).

Whatever domain you set, add it to your DNS, or set the "Host" HTTP header on wget or curl with the domain you set. Then it will access your webspace.

The panel at least has 2FA (I think), SSH password does not. I'll just make the password something ridiculously complicated then. Thanks!
