Yes, here is my config in /etc/fstab that works with uncommenting user_allow_other. You can apply it to your own config.

    USER@HOST:SRC DEST fuse.sshfs port=PORT,x-systemd.automount,_netdev,user,idmap=user,transform_symlinks,identityfile=SSH_KEY,allow_other,reconnect,default_permissions,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0

    Thanked by 1cybertech
  • upload speed real slow from asia region. download max around 100mbit. upload crawled around 2~4mbit. on DA STORAGE.

has anyone managed to write via sshfs? i got it to mount but couldn't write to it.

Not sure if it's the case, but you can try uncommenting user_allow_other in /etc/fuse.conf.

i did and it didnt work still..this is in the remote vps right?

try using sshfs -o allow_other,default_permissions options

@labze is it possible to use a sub-domain on StorageBox, or must it be a main domain?
I have the domain on Cloudflare, so it is possible for me to point the sub domain directly to the IP

Any type of domain can be used.

  • @labze what is the eta for DA storage please? I ordered on 25th.

  • Anyone knows the correct SSH port for StorageBox? Port 22 doesn't seem to work.

I think DirectAdmin File Manager is good enough

Nextcloud is crap. Use tinyfilemanager or files.gallery

+1 for tfm and files gallery. Nextcloud might work with offloading db to somewhere else. But it will be hella sloooow.

many thanks this worked but the IOWait and speed is horrible.

instead of identity can I input password directly instead?

even tinyfilemanager takes minutes to save a 1kb file. i think the server is just being smashed

Idk about that ftp2 seems more stable right now.

  • Hmmm, might need some storage
You do not have any 4TB in stock anymore @labze?

That's obv., ftp1 is 100% full and ftp2 is probably 90% empty as of now haha

mount it with rclone mount and experiment with - - vfs-cache-mode, to have both fast and large storage.

Now that I have a 4TB DA storage box, I could try this with rclone. It's actually quite usable with aggressive caching, and I could almost forget that it's slow. Of course the illusion starts to break down when I access from multiple locations at once 😅

Rclone might not be as performant as sshfs, but the caching behavior makes it feel more interactive. Here's my /etc/fstab:

    :sftp:remote/path /local/path rclone rw,noauto,nofail,_netdev,x-systemd.automount,args2env,config=/dev/null,allow_other,allow_non_empty,uid=1000,gid=1000,vfs_cache_mode=full,sftp_host=ftpX.hostypanel.com,sftp_port=XXXXX,sftp_user=USER,sftp_key_file=/path/to/.ssh/key,sftp_shell_type=unix,sftp_md5sum_command=md5sum,sftp_sha1sum_command=sha1sum 0 0

Yes. My main domain is on different server. The sub domain A record points to hostbrr. Works flawlessly.

is this fstab work bettrer than sshfs??
last week i mount my 500gb using sshfs, but its barely usable. today i check its kinda ok with 10mbps speed from my nextcluoud using ftp external storage. btw is ftps work on your storage box?

  • Can I install a software on storage box plan?

no root access on storage box, so i dont think we can install anything.

  • Anyone here with an account on both ftp1 and ftp2? Does the performance diff by a large margin?

  • /home2 usage on ftp1 goes down to 25.55TB now, I remember it was around 37TB yesterday. Have some accounts migrated to ftp2?
