What do you use your VPS for?

Following from my previous thread (http://bit.ly/1fBdQjD) I noticed that some people have quite a few VPS's.

I'd like to know what you use them for, what spec's they have and where they are...

    Personally I have 4 VPS's all hosted with RamNode in NL.

    Each with:

    • 128MB RAM
    • 128MB vSwap
    • 50GB SSD-Cached HDD
    • 500GB Bandwidth
    • 1- Cloud Storage
    • 2- VPN
    • 3- Mail Server
    • 4- Web Server

    I also have free credit with DigitalOcean which I use to test software.

  • I use mine for various personal projects, development testing and ‘private hosting’. And probably a few more things ;)

  • Everything can be found here :)

    4 x DNS servers (geographically diverse) 2 x web servers 1 x backup server (OVH dedicated) 1 x telnet BBS 3 x VPN servers/Squid proxies (geographically diverse for specific purposes) 1 x Windows 7 installation (genuine licence) in KVM as a kind of 'virtual laptop' 3 x for just testing and general messing around

    Edit for formatting

  • 1G RAM in LA, only use for my ghost blog platform based on node.js.

    Seems you are right, I checked it before and didn't found it.

    Lets see what I'm going to do with it :P

    I just migrated everything to RamNode due to their epic 42% off discount, so I currently have:

    1 x 512MB SSD --> Mail Server

    1 x 1GB SSD Cached --> Web server + cloud storage

    1 x 512MB HDD --> Testing

    1 x 2GB HDD --> Testing

  • TeamSpeak 3, Monitoring, different Webserver, 1 Backup server, and a few KVM to play around with :)

  • znc, rtorrent, subsonic server, btsync/backup, bubbleUPnP, openvpn

  • Awmusic12635Awmusic12635 Member, Host Rep

    ZNC, rwhois, dev, websites, DNS, MC, etc

    1x Minecraft server 1x personal web server 1x webserver for friends and self 2x nothing :( 1x monitoring server 1x backup server

    I should really do something with the idle boxes, but that requires ingenuity and time. Neither of which I have right now. :)

  • Thinking about it, not a lot; I do most of my OVH dedis these days. I think I'll give some of my cheap yearlies away once I've cleared it with the providers.

    Is this their $14/year special? I have one too, it's amazingly good!

    3 x for 3 different websites (32 MB, 128 MB, 2 GB memory), 1 on standby for redundancy

    1 x owncloud / backup

    1 x project code / dev

    1 x personal socks5/vpn

    3 x speedtest servers (my own), also in the ntp pool to help people sync their clocks

    4+ more from awesome providers that are helping with the speedtest project

    This is the kind of thread I wouldn't care if there where more. Why? It changes all the time. I always like to read this and see if there are some fun things to do with my idle boxes.
