Kind of feel bad for the guy; post offers encouraging users to spam (with no mention of "only one entry" or anything like that) and then yeet them for ... spamming?

You're right that some posts can unintentionally encourage spamming, and we do try to address this with providers whenever possible. That said, this particular user was significantly overdoing it. While I can't definitively prove their behavior was automated, it certainly seemed like it.
It's worth noting that we (or at least I, since I don’t speak for all moderators) don’t take such decisions lightly. You won’t see the warnings on user profiles, but this individual was already given a severe warning—by another moderator I believe, not me, about this exact behavior. Unfortunately, they continued to post excessively, ignoring those warnings.
Just to clarify, this is a temporary ban, not a permanent one, but I understand that from your perspective, it might be hard to distinguish between the two since the Icon looks the same. Don’t worry, he’ll be back in a week. And who knows, maybe by then, he’ll have found a better hobby… or maybe even a date and won't be single anymore
If you look at the timestamps on the guy's posts - nearly all of them are ~1 minute, give or take, for every hour, on the hour. Only giveaway here that should be like that (legitimately) is the HetrixTools one. This just looks straight automated.
I mean he was obviously taking the piss and I'm always in favour of seeing the ban hammer used often and early.
I have to slightly take issue with "unintentionally" encouraging spamming; these offers explicitly ask for spam and don't even suggest not posting it 100 times to improve your chances. I thought the rules had changed to stop encouraging it but maybe I misremember.
