My Negative Experience with HostUS (AS7489) - Warning About Fraudulent Practices

edited November 2024 in General

Hello everyone,

I am sharing my experience with HostUS, also known as AS7489, to warn others about what appears to be fraudulent practices.

Details of My Issue:

  • Date of Purchase: On November 20, 2024, I purchased an IP address rental service from HostUS via their website hostus.us.
  • The Problem: After completing the payment, I never received the service. Despite following up multiple times, I was met with delayed or no responses.
  • Ignored Requests: While my tickets were being ignored for days, I noticed the company responding to other support tickets, making it clear they were avoiding my case intentionally.
  • No Refund Issued: When I requested a refund, not only did they fail to process it, but they also started asking for unnecessary documents like a government-issued ID, despite the fact that I never received any service from them.
  • Financial Loss: To this day, HostUS has not refunded my money, leaving me with no service and no resolution.

Why This Matters:

This has caused significant disruptions to my work, as I had planned to use the service to continue my operations. Worse, it feels like I have been deliberately ignored and scammed by this company.

My Attempts to Resolve the Issue:

  • I opened multiple support tickets and sent detailed messages explaining the situation.
  • Despite my patience and repeated efforts, I received only sporadic responses, often days apart, without any meaningful action being taken.
  • I requested a full refund, but my request was completely ignored.

Evidence:

I’ve attached screenshots of my communication with HostUS that clearly show:

  • Their lack of timely responses.
  • Their refusal to address my refund request.
  • Their questionable demand for personal identification documents despite their failure to deliver the service.

Warning to Others:

I strongly urge anyone considering using HostUS to think twice. Based on my experience:

  • They fail to deliver on their promises.
  • Their customer support is unresponsive.
  • They appear to have no intention of refunding customers, even when they are at fault.

My Advice:

  • Avoid HostUS at all costs.
  • Always research a company's reputation and read reviews before making any payment.
  • Be cautious of any service provider asking for unnecessary personal documents.

Conclusion:

I feel scammed by HostUS and hope this post serves as a warning to others. If anyone else has had similar experiences or knows how to escalate this matter further, please share your advice.

Looks like they haven't been active here in awhile.

Any word on why that may be, veteran LET'rs?

Just a quick due dilligence search on TrustPilot would be enough to send me the other direction

Judging by the timestamps - it looks like you were setting yourself to the back of the queue with the responses without replies. Not to say that's any excuse to take someone's $300, but just know that when you flood support with tickets - you're doing more harm than good. Providers don't want clients like that.

I had done the same thing (tagging them) - but it looks they've been out of the game here for a bit (and never used the account once while they were here)

You can use ARIN IPs in RIPE area

I not have asn and org in Arin

    Not very smarthosttr of you

  • Nowadays it is still necessary to spend some time on the Internet to learn more about suppliers before paying. After all, many of their customers also come from the Internet, and there will always be traces to follow, unless they have financial problems and no longer want to do business well.

  • not exactly related, but HostUS sold their web hosting customers to 'Zume' in 8/2024 - apparently to focus on VPS things.

This has just been sent to me, I was not aware of your issue.

My staff can’t refund crypto orders, but if you send me your crypto address I can refund your order for you.
