Seriously...
@FrankZ this is your fault!
Ticket from our help desk:
Hello,
I noticed that your article references an outdated stat. You mentioned that there are "9,000" species of birds. Based on our most recent data, these figures have been updated, and According to the latest data, There Are More Than 11,197 Species of Birds in the World.
As one of the leading organizations in advocacy, it's the World Animal Foundation's utmost duty to ensure such statistics are current, not just on our platform but also on other relevant platforms.
Having recently revised our article with the newest statistics, I wanted to share this so you might consider a similar update.
For your reference and to verify the new statistics, please visit our page:
(not linking to them: it's worldanimalfoundation dot org /advocate/how-many-animals-are-in-the-world )
To provide your audience with direct access to the latest data, we would be grateful if you could link to our article when making the update.
Thank you for your attention to this.
Best Regards.

HUH
what the fuck
What
offer???
That’s hilarious
From their about page:
Looks like some SEO bought an expired domain.
All the garbage posted that way gets indexed ? What the fuck
PRESALE
And then set about searching the web for random statements they could "correct".
I mean, it's their "utmost duty".
@FrankZ is over there like
I bet @FrankZ looked up how many species of birds there were, and then intentionally subtracted a few, thinking "heh heh, this will really torpedo the WAF's mission..."
Their address looks fake and the phone number is probably fake too.
MOAAARRRRR
Hi quick update I just spoke with the professor of Birds and Wings and he has confirmed there are actually specifically 21,333 species if you include the variants in the Amazon rain forest. Thats not including flightless birds.
The f. Is this real or did someone just pretend to be them to troll?
This is a common outreach link-building technique. Suggest an update or offer some content in return for a link.
I'm surprised that they sent this to a nofollow forum that isn't relevant to birds or animals.
Why is this thread in the offers category? Are we selling @FrankZ for 7$/y?
Ironic on the day 1 species of bird is getting f@#^*& today. I'm having a very large piece of it.
This is all in the name of SEO? Honestly quite impressive that they would go to these lengths, I thought all of SEO was really just pagespeed insights, Google's search console, & spamming random keywords.
Do we have any update about the species of ants?
@FrankZ 's official response
Wow, speaking on entitlement! Insane. On another topic: damn, that’s a lot of bird species!
My bad.
The World Insect Federation is not as well-funded apparently.
Please get back to them saying that we're low-end here, so:
That's your idea of "mad" ?!?!
We had it last week, where the catering vendor offers $20 Thanksgiving plates.

Today we had pacific halibut from Wild Alaskan Company.
Each fillet is $7.
@raindog308 why not charge them a $7/yr link back advertising fee.
Looks very bland.
