    I made a purchase in the morning, but the order was declined. I thought it was okay. Maybe because I am from Asia.

    Did you use a VPN, proxy or a fake address?

    yes, Hong Kong area, access from other places is too slow

  • this is high end shit.

    @Falzo said: Just checked again, in the yabs above the fio is run on the extra 10GB that is for the system. The fio on the separate storage drive is slower for sure.

    Both virtual disks are on the same storage array, so there shouldn't be a significant difference in performance.

    @nullnothere said: Anything known about the underlying disks setup - what RAID/RAIDz it is etc.

    We use Striped Mirrors or Striped RAID-Z2, both with NVME slogs. Most recent nodes also have a NVME L2ARC.

    @HuntersPad said: Anyway to completely remove that 10GB drive?

    I am sorry. That's not possible.

    @zed3473 said: Ignore the DMCA?

    We do not tolerate any kind of illegal content.

    @jackpops said: but the order was declined. I thought it was okay. Maybe because I am from Asia.

    We accept orders from Asia, of course. So there must be some other reason.

    @jhruan said: At what speed will the storage be limited after it exceeds the bandwidth? Or suspended?

    Your VM will be suspended for the rest of the calendar month if you don't purchase further bandwidth.

    The existing ext4 had "stripe=2" as option.

    Which OS image did you use? I am not aware of any special options needed.

    Debian 12.

    I was mostly wondering about "specified blocksize 4096 is less than device physical sector size 8192"

    What about a plex server with just private torrents and usenet? Strictly no Public Torrents.

    Can I upgrade storage vps with same promo pricing later?

    @UltraVPS

  • So I suppose it's not a good idea to use both drives in one volume group in LVM? 😁

    @UltraVPS

    If it hasn't changed from the last years, the answer to both questions is no.

    Debian 12.

    I think this is because of how the guest OS sees the (virtual) disk. normal physical sector size with a drive usually is 512 bytes, sometime 4k. depending on the settings for the underlaying storage array the smallest bs in that might be different aka 8k and this then is what the guest OS sees.

    eventually the fs you create cannot have a smaller blocksize then what it sees as 'physical' boundary - even though this artifical here. welcome to the world of virtualization ;-) ;-)

    We use ZFS with stripped-mirror. It is similar to a RAID10 setup.

    is this true for the HDD stoarge servers as well?

    The Black Friday deals are only valid for new orders. We don't offer upgrades.

    Why do the 25Y-Special2-x plans have such low hard disk which are SSD too?

    Are those locations more expensive?

    Haha, they typed the wrong word, in fact it was a 200GB hard drive.

    I said 25Y-Special2-x and there are 3 separate products in that group which include different locations, not just Dusseldorf and Frankfurt.

    Hi @UltraVPS

    I placed an order which was rejected, which is not surprising honestly as my IP location and company details do not match.

    How can I request reconsideration? I replied to the denial email but simply received a canned reply. None of the information in the email seemed to be considered. It is possible to submit company documents as required.

    I have a client was has had your service for 7 years now and it has been rock solid. I was hoping to finally become a client. Please let me know how to proceed in DM. Thanks!

  • Thank you for the offer. Düsseldorf, very nice

    Thanked by 1UltraVPS
  • My order was also rejected, registered with real information, not using proxy/VPN, from China

  • Nice performance of the Storage VPS. I additionally ordered a Special3 in Amsterdam and got the IPv4 I used 5 years before, unfortunately I was unable to get Arch working on it (due to issues with the rescue system).

    You should pay in your local currency(人民币), not EUR/USD

    haha, yes I notcied the same with the IPs. probably they are put in the back of some queue and if you order a new service and it has not been reassigned by then, you will get it back.
    nice feature... Hetzner did something similar with their cloud servers to prevent abuse by people burning through IPs with spam or the likes, then dropping it and simply getting another one.

  • Yeah, I was really happy I wouldn't have to talk to T-Online again for unbanning IPs. But the support also told me now they're working on the rescue system issue.

    Indeed there is a problem while booting our rescue system. We are working on it. But you can start an alternative image via "Boot Image". There you can choose "SystemRescue", which boots another rescue system.

    In addtion we can addd Arch Linux to our Boot Image options, so that you can do an installation via it.

  • I needed the rescue for migrating an existing system, but the already existing image "ArchLinux 2020" did not work.

    I will check that.

  • IIRC it was also stuck at "UEFI misc device"

    OK, first I could not find any issue with the Arch Linux image. It bootet and I got a shell for installation. If you got any other error, please send us a mail ([email protected]) with the error message and how we can reproduce it.

    I noticed that the Arch Linux image is way too old. So we updated the image to the recent image 2024.11.01.

    not only that image is outdated, maybe you should do a general check before we encounter more problems

  • are there any plans to provide templates that merges 2 disks or remove the 10G one in the future?
    also, your debian template enables ipv6 by deafult but ubuntu doesn't, maybe you can look into that too :)

  • The second time I used the real address without using a proxy to access, the order was still rejected. I will not buy it again
