But, are there any alternatives to CloudFlare. I don't mean a competitor. I mean something we can setup on our own to almost function like CF does. Something to protect our websites in general?

Hi @noob404 -- It really depends what exactly you're trying to accomplish, as Cloudflare features quite a bit. Are you referring to WAF features, general security features, or content being served from the edge? Cloudflare provides a comprehensive package that includes CDN, DDoS protection, and various security features.

If you're primarily focused on security, you can implement ModSecurity rules. For example, with our shared hosting platform, we use cpGuard which leverages Malware Expert ModSecurity rules - this has proven to be quite effective.

For edge caching and CDN functionality, there are self-hosted solutions available, though they typically require more setup and maintenance on your end. Bunny.net is a good CDN alternative to consider as well.

Well, Dustin, I am not looking for the advanced features that CF provides in terms of CDN and others. For now, I am only looking for the serurity measures, mainly DDoS protection. But, yes, in time, I'd also love to learn how I could setup a CDN and other features of CF on my own.

I wish Dustin adds mechanical KBs and handheld gaming consoles or even full-fledged gaming consoles to the prize pool next year.

Not a bad idea, thank you for the feedback :) It'll definitely be considered.

    Thank you for that.

How many of you guys actually shut your PCs down, and not put it to sleep?

Decades ago, I was religious about shutting down my PC properly every single time. Now? I honestly can't remember the last time I actually did a proper shutdown! These days it's either sleep mode or letting it run continuously, especially with today's hardware. By the way, this reminds me of the old "It is now safe to turn off your computer" screen - those were the days! :)

I did proper shutdowns every time until a few years ago, with the superstitions and myths that it hurts RAM badly if you don't do that every time and such. But, right now, I can't even remember the last time I shut down my PC.

Who here active on this thread right now hasn't met the chef yet, ie., hasn't been a part of BF celebration at RN before this year?

@noob404 -- That's a great question! Let's get a headcount and see who we need to introduce to the Chef!

And speaking of the Chef... well, historically we've been pretty good at convincing, though we still have some work to do this year 😘 The Chef can be quite particular about making appearances, but I have a feeling if we show enough demand, we might just succeed in bringing out those special recipes!

Awesome. Hey, everyone on the hype train who needs the chef here, time to make some crazy demand.

@noob404 -- Hahaha, I love this theory! The Chef will definitely get a kick out of seeing this 😘

Okay, so that statement does disprove my theory :disappointed:

So, @Frosby, set up the reseller yet? I myself have the 60GB one and am planning to start selling locally.

Hi @noob404 -- Local business is indeed a great way to get started! You can really build solid relationships this way, and grow organically. Plus, you're able to understand your client's needs directly which helps deliver exactly what they're looking for.

When you're ready to scale, we'll be here to help :)

Yah, that's what I suggested to him, esp. as a new reseller. Anyways, that's the way I'd do it.
