Hetzner to End cPanel license sales on 15-JAN-2025.
Dear Mr r3k
We are writing to you because you use one or more cPanel licenses for your servers.
We at Hetzner strive to offer you our products at the lowest possible price. Unfortunately, cPanel has increased its licence prices. Therefore, we will also need to adjust to cPanel’s new prices, which will come into effect on 1 January 2025.
You can find the new prices for all the cPanel licenses we have on offer here: https://docs.hetzner.com/robot/dedicated-server/operating-systems/cpanel/#cpanelwhm-licenses/
If you are unhappy with the new prices, you can cancel your cPanel license via the Robot administration interface at https://robot.hetzner.com
You currently have cPanel licenses for the servers listed below:
**my-hetzner-server-details**Please also note that from 15 January 2025, Hetzner Online will no longer offer new cPanel licences. The provider’s expansive pricing and the low demand from customers have prompted us to take this step.
Starting then, you will also no longer be able to upgrade or downgrade your existing licences or to book additional options. If you need to make any changes, we recommend that you transfer your licences to another provider in advance, for example, transfer it directly to cPanel.
We will be happy to help you with any questions. Please write us a support request by logging onto your account and going to “Support”.
Thank you very much for your understanding.
Kind regards
Hetzner Online

An odd move for a server provider to stop offering the licences because of the "price increases", it's all automatable and simple to keep on top of.
It's not as if cPanel are the only software vendor doing this; Microsoft also increased Windows licencing this year.
Given how much discount is available for partners ($47.00 before volume discount) compared to forcing the customer to buy directly from cPanel (for $65.99), there's still reasonable margin to price yourself in the middle to take a profit on the licence and offer customers a cheaper alternative.
I suspect it's more to do with the support aspect, cPanel reject support requests from the end-user of partner licences and forces the partner themselves to be first-line response and provide support for issues that cPanel software causes.
In other news; fair-priced cPanel licences still available upon request at AllHost
Completely understandable. Price increases in general degrades public image, being it third party or you to blame. Margins on cpanel license is abysmal. So let customers go directly to cpanel for license and support.
I agree with their logic. If cpanel won't stop with the consistent increase in pricing (often drastic) and won't work with them on pricing, then as a business they should let cpanels customers fight with them directly about the pricing. it probably isn't worth it for them to have to be the messenger in this case.
My theory, take it with a lot of salt, is that that shared licences originates from cPanel themselves.
I mean, have you seen the code that goes into it, looks professional. But then the actual websites are almost purposely made to look shady and like a scam site. Almost as if someone there said "how can we sell licenses without giving our promised 5 star support".
And that's why they don't get 2 f's about raising their prices so much, and also why these shared resellers seems to exist for years and years without issues, appear at the top of Google searches like any other professional company would.
There is one particular license reseller site where the terms & conditions to purchase says you cannot buy if you are homosexual or female...
Almost like they are trying too hard to appear rogue.
What the actual fak?! Who is that provider?
I meant to scribble out a bit but you can work it out from the screenshot provided
Found it.
Its from : licencepro net/billing/index.php/knowledgebase/50/Term-and-Condition-of-our-services.html
Omg, that’s pure litigation right there. A low hanging fruit. A candy in sandbox.
nah.
Interesting ToS lmao.
Same goes for Plesk, i received this email today
Either they’re phasing out selling control panel software licences altogether, or they’re just not selling any WebPros software.
They are doing a lot of changes.
They also increased prices for their VPSs & Decreased traffic.
