Do you guys heard of BHYVE virtualization?

BSD hypervisor? or is it something else?

Yes, type 2. Wonder is it better than the other options available.

It's certainly faster in some use cases.

Isn't BSD generally faster than the other Unix distributions?

It is but we are talking about hypervisor.

Was just asking cause, just learned that BHYVE is FreeBSD-based.

First I am hearing of it. Is it special?

Kinda yes, only for BSD(if it's the same i am imagining it to be)

Oh, not sure if it's just kernel-based like KVM or something else entirely. Not sure why neat asked about it. Was it because he wanted to know more or wanted to discuss more about it. Only he knows.

Well it's certainly intriguing, although not yet matured enough, but as far as i know, it's performance is quite good although not as good as KVM and Vmware, but still good if you compare it a new project going toe to toe with the giants.

Ahh. But, why another virtualisation protocol though. What sets it apart or worthy of being used, over options like KVM, VMWare and ESXi?

    esxi is vmware :joy:

Didn't know this. Don't have a lot of personal experience with HVs. The last I researched them was almost 2 years ago.

See it this way, bsd is faster but the performance metrics will be calculated for guest VMs not the host machines.

Man i am keeping an eye on KS-A from ovh, i like the pricing and the use cases i have in mind. although just 6700k it's enough for a couple of websites not fit on a VM that cheap.
