  • Anyone received their refund for KS-A yet who got cancellation email?

    nope.

    Still in "Order preparing" status.

  • Ok kids, in the spirit of what the good Octave said about limiting the number of cheap-ass servers one can have, I have an lottery winning KS-LE-1 in GRA1 on a French account to give away.

    It has:

    • RAM: 16 --> 32
    • SSD: 480 --> 960
    • Up ipv6: 300 --> 1000
      And it renews on December 1st for 9.99 euro (plus VAT).

    It can go for free to the first person, with a EU account and more than 25 not shitty posts on LET, who gives the answer to this simple question : What distro is the upstream of Centos Stream?

    I'll then ask the winner to send me a message with their NIC handle. Whoever else who messages me asking about this server loses it and any other server I will ever transfer.
    If someone finds the answer first but does not qualify, I will move to the second correct answer. Then the third. Then I'll stop and let the server expire.

    The upstream distribution of CentOS Stream is Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

    @fredo1664 pick me pick me :)
    RHEL ...

  • Still need to let some answers in as we haven't reached 3 correct answers yet.

  • iirc rhel is downstream of centos stream, fedora is the upstream.

  • Guys, regarding additional IPs on OVH...

    Two questions:
    1) On the order page, we have "step 3: IP address geolocation," and there are several countries like the Czech Republic, Germany, the UK, Lithuania, etc. This is just a geo-IP thing, yep?
    I mean, if our server is in Germany and we buy a "UK addon IP," then routing will be the same. The only difference is that the whois/GeoIP db will say that "this belongs to the UK."
    2). Can we change the server for the add-on IP only in the same DC? Or can we change the endpoint from LIM to RBX, for example?

  • They still have not responded to my refund request from a week ago..

    I paid the LE-C for 2 months, I just want the 2nd month refunded.

    with the setup fee I think that OVH not realy interested in to reduce lottery tries. With their automation the mistakes are not random, I think that it motivates users to spend more and more and pay the setup fee. And because 14-day moneyback only available in EU, and the button seems only available in France, low amount of users uses it to get back the money, others simply transfer the server so OVH can keep the money and possible service will not canceled.

    So I think the limit will only applied for KS-A models, and other servers will require fast reaction time or a well configured bot in the future.

    Not sure about the button but if you are in EU, you can practically ask for refund of server cost and delivery cost. So an average EU customer can buy 30 KS-A servers, check each of them for the lottery, and return 28 of them back. And that's what people do.
