I'm wondering why everyone keep trying to install Nextcloud.

lack of better alternative and convenience.

Nextcloud is too bloated for personal usage on a shared cheap yearly hosting.

If you want to access the files via web, there are many options around.

Give me one where root permission is not required and can be used in shared hosting.

@labze is all this on the DirectAdmin server, or are these issues for the Epyc Storage VPS Node?

    Only this one server.

This is not true - any HDD operation causes high load on VPS node as well.

same, i am getting 200 IOPS on vps, i hope it will improve

I was getting 3 MB/s copying 1 MB blocks from /dev/zero to the HDD volume (without any file system on it yet)

    sftp, scp, rclone..

Only for those who don't own a tablet or smartphone,

As soon you own an iPad or iPhone, things get complicated and you only have 1 choice: Nextcloud, since Seafile is unusable on iOS devices, the mobile App rarely gets updated and most of the implementions were done 5+ years ago, meaning the UI is super clunky and full of bugs. (Only if you want to sync files between iPad Windows and Mac)

    TLDR
sftp scp rclone rsync syncthing seafile s3 smb nfs all horribly suck on iPads
only nextcloud works reliably across all platforms

Well, if you have to own apple device then this is part of the game. You can also get a second device or just do not use apple or do not use DA, there is always a choice.

500Gb box is 7EUR per year, common. People want to squeeze in maximum into the cheapest service.

    Nevermind, it is working now.

  • How long it takes to start service? Even in tickets no one answering

Here is a graph of how the server filled up over time (starting from yesterday)
, updated every 5 minutes Live link

Maybe once the line levels off a bit disk performance will improve.

@labze let me know if you want me to remove this data in case you don't want other people to see this.

also @labze is there a way to upgrade from the 500GB to the 1TB offer? I don't want to cancel and buy new, if that causes problems on your side. I can do that though if you prefer.

I can add that Seafile client removed photo upload to encrypted libaries with last app update. :(

Did you already try Synctrain on iOS? It's using syncthing.

  • Good offers

It consists so many files but also a good option.

    Another option is https://files.gallery
    Also single index.php file.

Just downloaded it, looks promising, will use it for a while and see how it performs. Didn't like moebius when I tried it in the past haha.

This is better than TinyFileManager. The popup is annoying though.

It's possible to use sftp wand rclone with third party apps on iOS / iPadOS thou.

  • Is the bandwidth limit per month or year?

In the demo, Gallery > Girls folder.... saw many pretty girls and being a frustrated junior dev sitting in a computer in a cubicle isolated from society.... I am sold.

    files.gallery it is.

Why not just do a hard limit of CPU & I/O, at least first couple days, so that it can at least have some room to do normal things like SSH and stuff.

The load issue is purely IO related. CPU haven't reached above 10% at any time.

The load is caused by a kworker interrupt on the RAID array, causing temporary write halts. Diagnosing why this is happening.

I hope you don't use SMR disks in RAID :)

This dude is THE DUDE. I tried it and probably the cleanest UI I've seen in a while. The uploading is also fast.

  • Looks strange... order pending almost a day... payment went through... 503 error on site here and there... support not answering...
