It depends, in 30 days it goes from chaos to max chaos.
My ISP is too expensive for a dedicated IP. They will not even let you get by with a one time fee. It is also much easier to just not worry about it. I do not need to worry about what is going on in my basement for my host server to run. I can trust that someone is always just out there making sure it is running as much as possible so there is a peace of mind aspect to it as well.
I do run some hosts in my own house but for things that matter a bit less. For example I host a minecraft server for myself and friends. When my ip changes, we get a little downtime and then I can just change my dns records and we are good to go again. Not the end of the world if people lose conneciton for a bit. If I am on vacation for a few weeks though and then my ip changes.. i guess that is another story. The ip stays constant long enough.. If they started changing daily, now that would get annoying but I could handle that with some automation.

Most of the days I shut it down, but when I have tasks to finish from where I left off, I just put it to sleep so the next time I turn it on, I see exactly what I need to do. No time for distractions!

It's great to see someone sticking to their principles, even in the face of rankings. Perhaps with the money you save you can invest it instead for a cushy retirement. Even better, put that money back into more VPS instances to support rack nerd for all that they provide and for giving back to their community!

nope and iirc the first ever recource giveaway was requested by me
with a VPS for life i can just prepay my domains for the 10 years (some are prepaid like 4), put a website up and dont worry
in year or two i can return and deploy something else
or use that vps as a companion when doing projects, i can just reset it and test on it
i dont have to pay for every project i want to release and 2 days later change my mind
