there is no alternative to cock. Those guys are non-profit (at least that was goal). Protonmail, incog is for profit. Ghostbox seems more relevant, but they still charge "activation fee".

    Autistici/Inventati, Riseup, Neomailbox, So36.net

    to be enjoyed with caution

I never had any problems with any of the providers, although I have not tested all of them myself.

Soooo their A records are offline now? Does this mean they’re gone?

    https://shitposter.world/notice/Ao6YnVf96HYvdJfZg0

According to the (currently only) NS host:

"We would like to inform you that the UPS located in our data center has malfunctioned. Unfortunately, the repair process will take longer than usual, as the necessary parts for resolving the issue are currently unavailable"

The process has been started to quickly add more nameservers, unfortunately a number of hosting companies housing our DNS have disappeared recently due to more-suspicious-than-usual circumstances.

We recently had to fly someone to another country and hire a private investigator to track down a disappeared host who refused to allow us any access to our disks while he had them plugged into his computers to try to crack into them.

So, while it may just look like the site has been down all day, please spread the word that we're working on a bit more than just an NS record.

This is what happens when you run a successful email provider. Cock.li at least admit that they have logs and they only provide with court order and right procedure.

The main issue is when the “big enemies” that aren’t “visible” for everyone, starting to mess with them. This is not only dangerous but also too risky. Of course there are something going on with Cock.li.

Is not something usual. I hope Cock.li return back or at least tell a little more about what happened. In case they close.

This only proofs even if you do logging and even if you provide logs to authorities but not easily like they want and when they want. Will be a target.

This case looks like equal or similar to Entrochat:
    https://encrochat.network/
https://iacr.org/submit/files/slides/2024/rwc/rwc2024/11/slides.pdf (Very interested to read at least the Graphs)

I can’t believe that Proton is not backdoored. If this happened with cock.li, why Proton wasn’t target for years? I suppose that the answer is clear enough.

Looks like Cock.li is being hunted not only by Gov but from “big players” (if you know what I mean). Strange things happens when someone piss them off. After reading his last message about private investigators.

Great service, hope they return soon.

    Thanked by 1naphtha

Never said the other providers weren't, just that when you make a statement like "Cock.li will shut down before becoming complicit in crimes against its own userbase by duress of any government or organization." you can't act all innocent when your userbase is filled with people abusing the service.

Proton have many groups using them for Ransomware and other activities. It won’t happen with they because they of course have logs and of course there is a backdoor which allows them to have access.

OVH and others hostings also had users doing shit.

This is my way of seeing it, check the case of Entrochat.

Cock.li never refused to give information, they have logs and they give the information with the right request procedure. The big issue is when you keep making harder to them to access data without court order. The service will be next target.
