Yes, I also only rarely had difficulties but there are a few providers who don't support ISO install and/or up/downloading your own ISO, so it's by no means coincidence that I always ask whether install from any ISO and/or ISO up/download as well as a usable and working VNC (panel or not) are available. I've also learned to not fall for or use BSD install images because usually they are half-cooked or outright crap. Their only use is for manually slapping my own BSD install over them, if needed the hardcore way. So -> Install from ISO only.
Re [whatever]BSD per se you're right, if a VM can run linux it also can run BSD.
