@Frobsy, BTW, no one came forward to claim the 100GB Reseller Hosting. If you still need that, send me your RN email ID and I'll let Dustin know. But, just a request though. Do not let that US Reseller you already have go to waste.

BTW, anyone here ran Palworld server when it went viral a few months ago? If yes, what was your experience like? Were you able to monetise it?

How can someone monetize game servers? I never had that idea before? as for the game it looked super time consuming so I had to watch some videos on youtube and it was fun haha. I'm more of an online gamer

Depends on the game. You could be P2W and just sell items, boost or whatever.
You could sell cosmetic stuff. You could also just have bonus stuff on other things like your discord for the server.
You can go further and create server mods/plugins and limit the features to donors.

There is so much potential.... I'll look later for some real life examples and see how much they selling....

Not sure how it is in Palworld, but in Minecraft if you are a P2W server, prepared to be targeted. People will do there best to crash, lag, dupe, or whatever to break the server. You will find tons of groups who only target P2W.

Not to mention it's actually against the ToS, though that's difficult to enforce at scale.

Didn't even know that TBH. Bohemia ToS bans P2W as well. You break it and no one can connect to your server. They have a report form. And like I said, you will find groups and YouTube channels who loves to break and shutdown these servers.

Minecraft EULA bans P2W as well. As you can see they don't care about the EULA and rarely enforce it.

Yeah I played on a Minecraft skyblock server back in the day that was P2W. That was before I realized how brutal they made everything if you didn't pay lol.

The only thing that held me back is the initial expense in terms of the server specs required to run this game smoothly. Mods and additional features will obviously require an upgrade over the min. required.

Palworld at launch was a mess. They been improving the server overtime, but it is early access for a reason. The cheats (not sure if they still are) on release was really ban. Like you can ban people, godmode, invis, turn PvP on, delete guilds, really you could probably name it TBH.
Server requirements might be less now, but if you can mod the game and turn things off or limit them you could really improve performance. Like spigot is for MC.

So, what kinda projects do you guys run on your VPSes anyways?

None yet. Just running stuff locally for the time being, hence why I'm interested in grabbing one.

Oh, good. I too have the habit of trying things locally before getting a VPS. That also helps me estimate the specs.

Yeah, also my ISP charges for static IPs. Literally cheaper to buy a whole dang VPS with a static IP address lol.

Same here, they are asking $100 for the cheapest package. rediculous

    Is that monthly tariff?

yeah per month and that's not all, you gotta be a business, it's not for personal use.

That's a lot then. Iirc, I could get static IP as a home user from an Indian ISP for about $120 for an year!

That doesn't look so bad, How is the bandwidth?

Bandwidth is totally dependent on your existing connection, iirc.

Not surprised if you did. I think the video blew up. Doing what they did will legit get you in trouble with the law. You can mess with Mojang EULA, but not the law. I'm not sure if it's the EU or some random places near it, but by law they require game loot crates to give honest rates. You don't, well, you'll find out quick when they find out.

No, because P2W is just bad is the reasoning. Most groups don't own servers. Even if they did they wouldn't just target P2W only, as every server is your enemy. In Minecraft the biggest reason is it's a kids game.

How cold? It's been dropping to the 50F here, so we sadly have to say goodbye to our pool. We just put in a brand new pool heater as the kiddos were in swim lessons, though now with it dropping down to 50F, it's hard to keep up. By the way, warming our pool one degree takes an hour, so you can imagine the constant battle when it gets this low in temp. On top of that, we say good bye to salt, it basically goes poof in this temp.
