    wireguard machine..

    use openvpn

I don't like that one bro

yea, I've also felt WG is better than OpenVPN after using both.
Now a big fan of shadowsocks and VLESS

I gotta try shadowsocks since you like that much bro!
    Thanks for sharing!

Its much more faster, I will share a few results soon (wireguard vs SS)

Please tag me once you do that, in the mean time I'll try it myself as well!

    Sure thing.

This a Racknerd VPS in France.
My ping to it is 120-125ms, and home connection is 500Mbps.

    Using Nyrs wireguard:
    100Mbps down / 125Mbps up

    Using ShadowSocks
    390Mbps down / 340Mbps up

    Woaah, that's quite a difference.
I'm missing out big on that one

Ok, I see I have missed a CPU upgrade :( I don't have a need for new VMs so these GAs are not something I miss too much, but resource upgrade GA... :(

Remember how were just talking yesterday about why companies might financially feel more comfortable giving more RAM than cores and you corrected me about the ability to share cores but not RAM? And, today, we have a core GA.

I do remember. Having more cores is ok, but currently my ratio cores:ram is 1.5, so I would prefer RAM over cores, but would take it anyways for the future :)

I see. The preferred ratio for cores to RAM is 1:2, right?

That's just my personal preference. It really depends on your usecase, but my usecase is general purpose, and I see this as best ratio for me.

    I prefer 1:4 with 8gb + ram

@MrEd, you got 1 similar comment. I guess once the thread catches momentum, it's really hard to avoid.

That one was the image I posted for the GA... The ClientExec logo... :( I lost my cleanliness... :D

Can always hardcode things if you want to: 😂

I try to be fair, even if it hurts myself :) The only hardcoded thing for myself is the messages per day amount in the bottom chart. If I am not in the top3 of the day, I have "all" :D BUT if I happen to be in the top3, I show the correct amount :) You can see in some archived columns my correct amount :) Didn't happen to get to top3 in this thread yet :D

    Good morning Ed
How does that comment similarity thing work, I got three and I'm not sure how and when was it.

Similarity is calculated by Levenstein Distance. If your distance is 3 or less (hardcoded for short messages like "Page 142" and "Page 143" the distance would be 1, but by length it would be 87.5% similar), or if your messages are more than 90% similar, then they are considered similar. Posting images, youtube links and so on are immediatelly similar to previous such message. Only text in the message is compared.

I can confirm that your "similar" posts are the ones where you posted plain images and youtube links :)

Any readymade scripts or tutorials on setting up Shadowsocks. That's almost a 4x improvement.

Personally, I use Marzban. It's built by some Iranian chads to bypass censorship, but with lot of contributions from people around the World.
I use it specifically as I need multi node support, as I do self hosted VPN services for friends and family.

If you want easy setup and management, use 3X-UI. Supports a ton of protocols like Wireguard, xRay Core and more.

I can also agree with you here, but since most of the VMs are up to 4GB RAM, 1:2 ratio works best here.

I have stopped buying low spec vms now , run everything in a single vm

Well, I take VMs 2+GB, some things are split, some things are together :)

But my personal stuff is running on my home server with offsite backup :)

    Where is the offsite

AlphaVPS 750GB Special. Plenty of space for my critical stuff :)

    Wish racknerd did storage vps

But... If you want to backup your RN VMs it wouldn't be wise to store the backups on RN VM :D That wouldn't count as offsite backup :D

it can be a different dc

  • who need backups anyways

Different DC but same provider is still risky :) You should distribute your risks :)

It will be a normal work day for me. Nothing special. Development as daily :) I guess stress comes to the ones who work in some markets.
