Backup Solution?

Hi,

i have a dedicated server for hosting shared and resellers.

What would be the best low cost and cost effective Backup solution for all accounts? I did look at R1Soft. But expensive though.

Planning to use Backupsy. Any alternatives as well? Suggestions please.

Thanks,
Puneetha

  • If you use cPanel you can use the built in backup system via SFTP/FTP

  • you can also use something like crashplan

  • automysqlbackup + rsnapshot

  • I heard Backupsy was very good.

    I did too :)

  • If you have a managed dedicated server I bet you could ask them to periodically make backups for you

Backupsy has been very reliable for me so far. They offer FreeNAS as an operating system choice which made creating an NFS server easier too. I'm using their Dallas location right now.

As far as software, I use Proxmox to backup my VPS Containers to the NAS server, and use cPanel to backup hosting accounts to another offsite server.

duplicity is your friend. Dead simple to use, incremental (optionally encrypted) backups, with a pile of different possible backends.

  • you may try tarsnap. peace of mind.
