    I now get how people get these crazy deals, just by joining these types of promotions, I didn't know about this before. RAM upgrade for life is yummyyy

    I feel sorry for people still buying from the so-called mainstream hosting services. I remember a time, when one of these major hosts (kinda rhymes with PoDiddy) tried to sell me a 32GB RAM VPS after I told them my purpose and requirements. A month later, I could run the same project on a 2GB RAM RackNerd VPS very smoothly.

    Nothing really specific brother, I'm eager to win Racknerd credits or willing to convert the prizes I win to credits. But... If I happen to win the SM7B podcast microphone, that'll make me start a podcast or something similar as I was in the field a few years ago. And I always loved to get my hand on that power hungry mic, I'll just have to buy a decent audio interface for it. (expensive too)

    @Frobsy -- Now that's what I call planning ahead! Love hearing about your podcast background, and yes - the SM7B is definitely a beast of a mic. The fact that you know about needing a solid interface shows you know your stuff :)

    Keep that energy up! The mic could be yours, and who knows, maybe we'll all be listening to your podcast powered by that SM7B soon! By the way, account credits are always useful, so I definitely understand that angle too.

    Everything started with a simple script 3 years ago already :) It got improved during all the activity threads, so its hard to estimate how much time has been spent on this already.

    It doesn't really matter, how much time it took to make it, its the enjoyment that users get when looking in the stats :)

    I agree, when I was a teen I used to do something that made me one day say "I hate sleeping" imagine I was that passionate about something that I'm trying to remember but I can't, this is very weird to me. I have to dig in my facebook activity back in those days to see what I was so attached to. I'm not used to forgetting things this easy.

    Working on something you love is truly a gift and its been a while since I've felt that way. I tend to have this intense passion for new things I learn, but it usually lasts about six months before it fades.

    I'm glad to do what I do. I am System Architect, but mostly still doing development, and have been here for +-20 years already :) I love my job :)

    Wow, 20 years! do you need a uni degree to get that type of job?
    What exactly does a system architect do on a daily basis?

    System architect designs the software. Not the way user sees it, but what technologies are used, how it interacts with other applications, DB schema and so on.

    I'll look into it.

    You need a lot of experience to be a good architect. You need to know what patterns to use in which cases. And you also need to have good guesses what new features users will request later :)

    Is a Uni degree compulsory to land a job at a reputable company, or are there any long distance courses catering to this?

    I would say, you need to be a good developer first, have a lot of different projects, try to understand WHY others made some decisions, and then you can become an architect.

    Uni is not mandatory, but from my own experience I can say, it "clicked" at some point to think differently in my Uni :)

    That feels way out of reach to me at the moment. I'll look into it later anyway!

    I am gonna try sneaking in some space talk, cause that's what I am into at the moment, with SpaceX's and ISRO's successes.

    Just a tip someone gave me a while ago. While I haven't had the time to act on the advice, due to lack of time, might help you. Start projects and post them on GH. People often underestimate the power of GH.

    Regarding the VAT - this is actually due to FastSpring, our PayPal payment processor. They do by default collect VAT/sales tax in certain regions. For future orders, you might want to try the "Credit Card" option during checkout (it's also on the right side of our invoice page). This processes through Stripe instead, which doesn't automatically add any VAT or taxes.
