Oh man. Last time, we were ripping through pages with comments. Bring it on!

Wait brother, I'm having breakfast. I'll be here to destroy records haha

BTW, what prize are you looking for?

Nothing really specific brother, I'm eager to win Racknerd credits or willing to convert the prizes I win to credits. But... If I happen to win the SM7B podcast microphone, that'll make me start a podcast or something similar as I was in the field a few years ago. And I always loved to get my hand on that power hungry mic, I'll just have to buy a decent audio interface for it. (expensive too)

Nice so what will you podcast about?

I never did a podcast before and I don't think it's in my nature. I used to voice act kids shows. I might get back to that.

    Like professionally?

Dubbing youtube shows. if you're not familiar with that, look at Mrbeast for an example, he is producing content in like 10+ languages.

Oh yah. Recently, many YouTubers have started doing Hindi dubs, due to the high viewership from India. BTW, any work of yours you'd like to share with us?

I dub content in Arabic, I can share if you're interested

Arabic? Interesting, please share. I'm actually learning a bit of Arabic myself.

Please note that it for kids as I wrote before haha.
    I dubbed both characters
I hope you understand something out of it

I can read/write the alphabets alright, but still learning on understanding stuff.

That's not bad at all, that's standard arabic (Fus'ha).
Are you learning fusha or a specific dialect? What is your goal behind it or is it just for fun?

Arabic has dialects as well? Didn't know. These dialects, they on a regional basis, like Iraqi Arabic and Saudi Arabic, or is there a different criteria?

Yea, you could say mostly fun ๐Ÿ˜„

I did some of my schooling in a middle eastern country, that's how I know to read/write. Thought I'd also brush up the understanding/conversational skills.

Used Duolingo, it's been meh for Arabic so far. But for a couple of other languages I tried, it was pretty good.

Sound isolation will cost more than the interface... there are good diy ways
As for mic, there is one for.like $15 thats basicslly as good as the sm8b, you can hear the difference if you hear side by side, but for dubbing or singing it's excellent

I totally disagree. the difference is very appealing. My first was one of those cheap bm800  and it was a disaster, volume weak, distortion, screwed up highs, I liked nothing that one. the most disappointing $20 I have ever spent online haha.

    Think that was the problem.
I used a ultravoice xm8500, tried shure sm7b and now switched to a xlr lav

Did tests with all 3, barely any difference (after denoise and quick edit) unless my voice was very low or very high, but for normal edits (voiceovers, reading a book) you need to have it side by side else you dont know which is which

Now using the lav and dont have the other 2 anymore, reason is convinience

Thats true, cheap microphones require a solid work on EQ, noise gates.... and my timeline is very short to do all that, even sometimes having a template wont be consistent as you will always have anomalies with those microphones

Never had anomalies, usually the only anomaly is me speaking gibberish because english and german arent my native languages, so yeah...

Are you a voice artist by any chance?

Nope, just a normal guy that likes qulity tools
Reason i use a audiotechnica headphones ans xlr mic
    Shit wont break, wired, seperate
Can use for voiceovers, and even diagnosing electronics

You know so much for a normal guy my brother
You know, in voice over industry, it's hard to compete using cheap tools unless you're an expert in audio engineering, which the majority of VOs are not. So when a client requests a quick turnaround, like delivering within 12 hours, you have to meet that deadline, which highlights the convenience factor you mentioned. but when working with major production companies, they always have professional audio engineers. In those cases, a cheap mic wonโ€™t cut it. These engineers are meticulous almost inhuman in their perfectionism. If we ever have to deal with these companies we just head over to their studios to save the stressful mess. I didn't work that long to experience this but that's what I learned from peers.
You should check out Booth Junkie on youtube. He is a vo but incredibly detail oriented and insightful.

Thanks, yes i do my research in all fields... saving up for a gem facetting machine, wanna make some gems for someone special

I know booth junkie, funny guy

As for audio engineers and crap, ofc, fucked up industry tbh. I hate 100 points effort for 0.01% quality, however most content creators dont care

If we talk about professional professional, you need your own booth/small studio, anything less imo wont really cut it, plus some exp in audio editing.

As for "good enough" i have heard people set up a booth out of hotel pillows and matresses and whatever they can find, with a decent mic and good recorder
Followed by sending raw crappy files to the editors which removed junk, good enough
Stuff then can be played at a commercial or whatever, again, withoit good headset or speakers, you not gonna hear the difference, especially not on mcdonalds speakers lmao

In my honest opinion i think most things dont matter, except for music, music is tje shiz people will set up crazy speakers and headphones. Tho hifi is another topic...

    I really like your energy!
What field do you specialize in? You seem a lot like me, curious and eager to learn about anything and everything. We might even share the same mentality, which makes me wonder if your current job might be a good fit for me too.

    I dubbed both characters
I hope you understand something out of it

Both the voices you, or the adult sounding one?

Yeah both, but that bear is sped up, following precise details to what the client wanted. It sounds very close to the original one

Hmm yeah. I don't understand any of it. But, have you approached any big time YouTubers for work? Many, including those doing tech tutorials have been seen with dubbed content.

Actually I never did any cold email, I just happened to get a client who has a dubbing studio that was doing work for big channels like Diana, and I kept getting work solely from him. I thought about contacting channels but never did.

Maybe once you have a stronger portfolio, contact them as well. Any experience certificates or emails, with your earlier employers' permission might also be useful when mailing big YouTubers.

I quit dubbing and voice overs two years ago. I was too young for this stressful industry, plus I'm kinda introverted and I didn't like being on the open on the daily. Working in weekends is a nightmare, no social life, no summer vacation. I wasn't ready for it, but now looking at it, it was fun but I don't know to be honest weather I'd be doing it again with the rise of this crazy realistic AI voices. AI back then was crap.

Yeah both, but that bear is sped up, following precise details to what the client wanted. It sounds very close to the original one

Yeah exactly, every country use their own dialect, but we can pretty much understand each other just fine. Standard Arabic is always used in historic, natgeo type of shows and it has it own charm.

Hahaha, Exactly. If an introvert says that, you go ahead and call it a disaster. not going out with friends or not even connecting through online games, or anything fun is exhausting brother.

That explains it, bro, If you keep watching children's shows (for their simplicity) you'll get far ahead.

Good morning! I see new 11 pages appeared. What did I miss? ;)

a lot of giveaway it seems

From what I know, since yesternight, there's only been one giveaway.

Hi @noob404 -- Actually, we've dropped quite a few giveaways today alone! I've honestly lost track of the count of how many we've done in the last 24 hours, but most recently just a few hours ago, we did one on page 38, and page 40. So that alone is definitely more than one. We've been switching it up, and getting creative with them too.

Don't worry though, plenty more to come - we're just getting warmed up! Keep refreshing and stay engaged, as the party continues :)

No worries. I am here for a few more days. Hope I get to catch some. BTW, just a doubt, there seem to be two GAs on the thread. The first set has the Acer Nitro Laptop as the grand prize and the other one has the Skytech Gaming PC. Does this mean that the first set will be decided based on lottery consisting of the participant users and the second set based on engagement. Or, are both of these somehow user engagement-based?

Hi @noob404 -- That's right! The first set with the Acer Nitro laptop is totally random (all you need to do is post in this thread at least once, and you're automatically entered) while the Skytech Gaming PC giveaway, Arcade Machine, iPad, etc is based on engagement. Different ways to win, and we love doing both types to give everyone a chance :)

That's really good for people who really wanna win but can't put the time in due to work and such.

  • So, since you are here, any giveaways planned in the next few hours?

  • Also, since Dustin's here, let's hype the party up, i.e., if you want GAs!!!

I'd love me some RAM as well. BTW, do we actually mean physical RAM sticks or RAM upgrades on existing VPSes? :/

Hi @noob404 -- hahaha neat idea but in this case, it would of been a resource upgrade towards a RackNerd VPS service :)

I'm here and I am ready. One hand on F5, the other on my mouse. Ready to go.

Keep that F5 ready, as we've got more in store ๐Ÿฅณ
