Oh man. Last time, we were ripping through pages with comments. Bring it on!

Wait brother, I'm having breakfast. I'll be here to destroy records haha

BTW, what prize are you looking for?

Nothing really specific brother, I'm eager to win Racknerd credits or willing to convert the prizes I win to credits. But... If I happen to win the SM7B podcast microphone, that'll make me start a podcast or something similar as I was in the field a few years ago. And I always loved to get my hand on that power hungry mic, I'll just have to buy a decent audio interface for it. (expensive too)

Nice so what will you podcast about?

I never did a podcast before and I don't think it's in my nature. I used to voice act kids shows. I might get back to that.

    Like professionally?

Dubbing youtube shows. if you're not familiar with that, look at Mrbeast for an example, he is producing content in like 10+ languages.

Sound isolation will cost more than the interface... there are good diy ways
As for mic, there is one for.like $15 thats basicslly as good as the sm8b, you can hear the difference if you hear side by side, but for dubbing or singing it's excellent

I totally disagree. the difference is very appealing. My first was one of those cheap bm800  and it was a disaster, volume weak, distortion, screwed up highs, I liked nothing that one. the most disappointing $20 I have ever spent online haha.

    Think that was the problem.
I used a ultravoice xm8500, tried shure sm7b and now switched to a xlr lav

Did tests with all 3, barely any difference (after denoise and quick edit) unless my voice was very low or very high, but for normal edits (voiceovers, reading a book) you need to have it side by side else you dont know which is which

Now using the lav and dont have the other 2 anymore, reason is convinience

Are you a voice artist by any chance?

  • I love RN's giveaway threads for this reason. The discussion may take U-turns at any moment. One moment you are discussing servers, the other random stuff, and outta nowhere, we got a discussion on Audio!

Thats true, cheap microphones require a solid work on EQ, noise gates.... and my timeline is very short to do all that, even sometimes having a template wont be consistent as you will always have anomalies with those microphones

how much time did it take you to make that script? seeing these cool things makes want to learn to code, seeing how much I could benefit from it especially when it comes to automating stuff

Everything started with a simple script 3 years ago already :) It got improved during all the activity threads, so its hard to estimate how much time has been spent on this already.

It doesn't really matter, how much time it took to make it, its the enjoyment that users get when looking in the stats :)

I agree, when I was a teen I used to do something that made me one day say "I hate sleeping" imagine I was that passionate about something that I'm trying to remember but I can't, this is very weird to me. I have to dig in my facebook activity back in those days to see what I was so attached to. I'm not used to forgetting things this easy.

Working on something you love is truly a gift and its been a while since I've felt that way. I tend to have this intense passion for new things I learn, but it usually lasts about six months before it fades.

I'm glad to do what I do. I am System Architect, but mostly still doing development, and have been here for +-20 years already :) I love my job :)

You know so much for a normal guy my brother
You know, in voice over industry, it's hard to compete using cheap tools unless you're an expert in audio engineering, which the majority of VOs are not. So when a client requests a quick turnaround, like delivering within 12 hours, you have to meet that deadline, which highlights the convenience factor you mentioned. but when working with major production companies, they always have professional audio engineers. In those cases, a cheap mic won’t cut it. These engineers are meticulous almost inhuman in their perfectionism. If we ever have to deal with these companies we just head over to their studios to save the stressful mess. I didn't work that long to experience this but that's what I learned from peers.
You should check out Booth Junkie on youtube. He is a vo but incredibly detail oriented and insightful.

I'm glad to do what I do. I am System Architect, but mostly still doing development, and have been here for +-20 years already :) I love my job :)

Wow, 20 years! do you need a uni degree to get that type of job?
What exactly does a system architect do on a daily basis?
I'm glad to see you here, we could learn a lot from you

Oh yah. Recently, many YouTubers have started doing Hindi dubs, due to the high viewership from India. BTW, any work of yours you'd like to share with us?

I dub content in Arabic, I can share if you're interested

Thats true, cheap microphones require a solid work on EQ, noise gates.... and my timeline is very short to do all that, even sometimes having a template wont be consistent as you will always have anomalies with those microphones

Never had anomalies, usually the only anomaly is me speaking gibberish because english and german arent my native languages, so yeah...

Are you a voice artist by any chance?

Nope, just a normal guy that likes qulity tools
Reason i use a audiotechnica headphones ans xlr mic
    Shit wont break, wired, seperate
Can use for voiceovers, and even diagnosing electronics

Thanks, yes i do my research in all fields... saving up for a gem facetting machine, wanna make some gems for someone special

I know booth junkie, funny guy

As for audio engineers and crap, ofc, fucked up industry tbh. I hate 100 points effort for 0.01% quality, however most content creators dont care

If we talk about professional professional, you need your own booth/small studio, anything less imo wont really cut it, plus some exp in audio editing.

As for "good enough" i have heard people set up a booth out of hotel pillows and matresses and whatever they can find, with a decent mic and good recorder
Followed by sending raw crappy files to the editors which removed junk, good enough
Stuff then can be played at a commercial or whatever, again, withoit good headset or speakers, you not gonna hear the difference, especially not on mcdonalds speakers lmao

In my honest opinion i think most things dont matter, except for music, music is tje shiz people will set up crazy speakers and headphones. Tho hifi is another topic...

Oh yah. Recently, many YouTubers have started doing Hindi dubs, due to the high viewership from India. BTW, any work of yours you'd like to share with us?

I dub content in Arabic, I can share if you're interested

Arabic? Interesting, please share. I'm actually learning a bit of Arabic myself.

Please note that it for kids as I wrote before haha.
    I dubbed both characters
I hope you understand something out of it

    Wow
