Which is faster, iDrive E2 or Cloudflare R2?

Comments

  • Totally not biased ofc

    Thanked by 2homelabber kkrajk
  • why not just create an account on both platforms and try it for yourself? is free anw

  • There is no "Cloudflare R2" whatsover at link that you've posted.

That URL compares E2 to AWS, Wasabi and Backblaze in a very non-honest way.
In Europe I get connected to iDrive E2 from Frankfurt, Wasabi and AWS from US East and Backblaze from US West. Of course E2 will be faster in that test if it picks such locations.

In terms of CDNs the fastest and still affordable is Bunny CDN (not included in the test) imo. I had some issues with them in 2023, but in 2024 they are rock solid.

Not in my case, I somehow being in eastern eu I still get better results from US than e2 germany

OP is probably meant to ask comparison between E2 to R2 since it wasn't included in test. but yeah, the lack of context is silly. just posting a link to start a thread, really?.

  • IDrive e2 has been very fast for me. Just select the location closest to you and you should be good. Good pricing too at $5/TB/month

One thing about iDrive E2 pricing.
Suppose you are on prepaid plan like 1TB but stored only 100GB, when you consume more than 300GB(3x the stored amount), they will charge you for bandwidth overuse.
It's not like you are on 1TB plan so you get 3x(3TB) per month download allowance.

    Not Cloudflare?

    Absolutely right.

  • *Synology, backblaze & storj s3 storage provider: Sad noise

    Maybe related to this https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/199558/hetzner-outage-finland-germany-c-lion-cable-is-cut-we-all-know-who-did-it#latest

  • cloudflare R2 is horribly slow from APAC, even with location hint set. talking about object upload.

i wonder if data is still sent to their US datacenters? anyone can counter this or have better experience?

  • Delivering 15TB of 4K video with Cloudflare R2 for $2.18
