@xvps said: @Maounique, how significant do you think the impact on the Russian economy would be if Russia could no longer have its ships (regardless of their registration) serviced in EU/NATO countries, and if they also lost their LNG sales to the remaining EU countries that still purchase from them?

First, the LNG or even oil sales to the EU are not that important, we are already free of the energy blackmail (barring some Putlerist doggies who didn't participate in the EU's efforts in that direction, small countries with low demand), but the ones towards the rest of the world are. Putler can repair his ships in China or even the Empire itself, that would not be a problem, but if they are no longer allowed out of the Baltic Sea, then that would be a tad more serious, because many of those are going to other buyers.

That being said, Putler would find ways, the costs would mount even more, maybe the discounts would get steeper, but he has to sell the oil and he will always find buyers for it in those conditions, so the impact would be low, not completely insignificant, but certainly not a game-changer.

@stefeman said: Which country in EU still uses Russian LNG gas from ships?

Plenty. The share of Imperial LNG imports into the EU grew, in 2024, compared to 2023, but also the market further shrank, as the European gas consumption dropped and will continue to drop.

    https://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/French-Terminals-Import-Record-Volumes-of-LNG-From-Russia.html

Russian LNG accounted for 20% of the EU’s liquefied natural gas imports in the first nine months of 2024, compared to 14% for the same period last year, amid markedly lower EU imports of the super-chilled fuel, a report by the EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) showed last month.

Translated, the EU countries still have ongoing contracts the Empire did not cancel (Putler can't blow up the sea and claim can no longer deliver because of... whatever pretext) and they still have an obligation to import. The overall imports are dropping, but the Imperial LNG imports remain constant until the contracts will expire or Putler would break those, as the prices are pre-war, probably close to pandemic levels, so it makes no sense to cancel those and pay penalties instead, better get the cheap gas as per the contracts.

Do you or do you not have any solid evidence for Russia being involved?

If not then I suggest to treat the question "who has done it?" as open and to stop insinuating that Russia (or whoever) has done it and first try to find out what exactly happened in the first place.

Don't you find it funny that I don't even need to mention the suspect country before page 2 of this thread and everyone can immediately name the annoyance who has enough time to do shit like this.

No, I don't find that funny. The reason is simple: there have been more than plenty wild - and usually baseless - accusations and insinuations against Russia.

Fact, to the best of my knowledge, is however that there is no evidence whatsoever suggesting who was behind it. Hell, we even don't know yet what exactly has happened. Is the cable cut? The complete cable or just say 2 out of 4 fibers? Or has it only been damaged and if so, what kind of damage?

All we have so far (afaik) is that some measurements indicate a problem in the cable and highly likely meanwhile some optical TDR data are available and hence the (more or less) precise location of the cable problem/damage is known - not (yet) to us though.

In other words, we neither know with some precision what has happened nor where exactly it has happened, let alone who is behind it - or even if there has been some intentional manipulation at all.

So, no basis at all for "certain country" speculation. In your own interest too btw. because imagine how (not only) you'd look like if say, it was a plain stupid accident like some fishing vessel carelessly drag-netting on the sea floor, maybe even a finnish one ...

How much rubles do you get paid for posting on LET?

And how many $$ do you get paid for your helpless and clumsy attempts to smear Russia?

Do you have facts or solid evidence? Nope, you don't. Bless your heart.

Russian spy ships have been caught several times mapping undersea infrastructure with their AIS (Automatic Identification System) disconnected.

... according to professional whores and liars aka "western media" ...

And even if that were true: So fucking what? Are only western countries allowed to map undersea infrastructure and/or to turn off their AIS?

It is common for naval ships to escort Russian spy ships out of territorial waters in countries across the region. Similarly, our air force regularly escorts Russian military aircraft away from our airspace.

Which means exactly nothing, besides quite some western politsters suffering from paranoia and lack of a spine.
I suggest that instead of endlessly molesting Russia you (~western eu-ropean countries) rather come to their senses. If push comes to shove that is, when your attempts to get into a nuclear war with Russia finally bear fruit, danmark will survive (figuratively speaking) about 5 minutes, the UK simply will cease to exist (which would sadden me because I rather like brits), etc. etc.
Probably your media failed to tell you but actually Russia already is in a war with nato (which I call 'nazo') and is winning. Explanation: ukrostan is but a completely remote controlled fighting dog with nazo holding the remote control and throwing their "best in the world" weapons junk into the battle. So far Russia is not at all afraid of nazo and their "superiority, supremacy" junk.

The only reason eu-ropean war ships and jets "escort" russian "spy-ships" and aircraft out of "their" zone is the fact that Russia is a very peaceful country and didn't destroy your war toys.
But it seems it's about time for a re Kalibr-ation ...

Russia has also jammed GPS signals in the area on multiple occasions.

So what? You obviously don't know that GPS was a us-american military system and explicitly designed to allow confusion, changed time information, etc.
And so many of nazo weapons-systems being utterly dependent on GPS of bloody course the Russians jam it.
Just like the nazo countries would (try to) jam Glonas if push came to shove.

When we closed our harbors to Russian ships, the last Russian vessel to enter (a rusty, old ship) failed to stop as it approached the Danish harbor, causing some damage.

Frankly. I very much look forward how things evolve in danmark. It might serve well as a naval base for the russian fleet.

No other country engages in these kinds of provocations, so it is only natural that everyone suspects Russia.

Totally absolutely YES! Besides, well, a couple of nukes on Japan, a completely nuke south-pacific atoll, willy-nilly kidnapping foreigner by the fbi, and so on, and so on (it's a very long list, including btw a us-american sub cutting a soviet-russian subsea cable in russian waters).

Let's not turn yet another thread into an anti-Russian one, there already is a cozy place for Russia haters here.

You see the facts are simple: the western countries threw everything they could against Russia, terror-sanctions, weapons, full military support for ukrostan, and even stole billions of money that Russia entrusted to you (yes, indeed a very stupid move by Russia) ... yet ... you did NOT win, you did FAIL ... and now the new us-american president wants to negotiate.

And most of you forgot another very basic rule: payday comes. Always. Invariably. THAT is what you should fear, really fear.

And now I'll leave you to your wet day-dreams with a polite "bless your heart!".

P.S. Oopsie, it seems that "We all know who did it" was wrong. It seems "evil country R" was replaced by "evil country C" in the narrative. What a sad bunch of losers the western politsters and media are. But at least mildly entertaining, haha.

Yeah right, I'm totally afraid and pissing my pants because of nazo's remote controlled fighting dog now is (declared to be) capable to "strike far into Russia".
Short wake up call from reality: atacms max reach: 300 km. Oopsie, it seems I can stop pissing my pants ... so much for striking far and deep into Russia. And btw. unlike nazo, Russia does have capable air defense systems.

But again: Please bring up those issues in the cozy Russia-haters thread - not here. Especially now that the narrative has changed from "evil country R" to "evil country C". And it's even easy to do. Just follow your politsters and media and simply repeat your usual array of nonsense but replace "Russia" by "China".

  • @jsg said: But again: Please bring up those issues in the cozy Russia-haters thread - not here.

:D You just post thesis level writing about how your leader can 'flatten UK' and have nerve to tell others to be quiet?

Perhaps your gaslighting works on westerners, but you have exposed yourself as the flaccid scared man who breaks down when anyone questions dear leader.

Your planes are breaking down because you have no parts, and stealing from other planes to keep them working. Hopefully you stock up on ducting tape! Or maybe Lada makes airplane?

I guess Russia is just so awesome you sit on Western forum where others looking for chicken while you looking for fights and condemnation. I pity you.

I am playing lineage 2 on a Luxembourg server. Since this shit happened, there are tons of DCs in the clan as the routing changes to cope with the issue. So far CZ is the only VPN which did not DC yet, the rest as well as direct connections from DIGI keep dropping multiple times a day. This includes France and Germany, which should have no problem due to any underwater cables, they share a border with Lux.

    Unfortunately, it does not work.
First, 2 sec is usually enough to dc you.
Secondly, the connection does not drop, just some destinations as the routing changes. I have seen really funky changes, MTR suddenly finds 20 hops for about a min, then comes back to previous routes. I could monitor certain destinations, of course, but it is unreliable for some reason, i.e. the routing switches but there is still no reply, I believe this is because various routers take different time outs to cope.

Don't get me wrong, it works great in cases of DDoS when noobs are cutting various branches based on geography and Romania is a primary target since people have such big thick pipes.

It seems to me that we are facing excessive optimization here, the routing changes more than it should, congestion thresholds are set too low in a time of crisis like this.

You keep the exit, no IP change if the exit doesn't die.
If the link dies, bird swaps it in a few seconds and you back in the game.

Even if that means higher latency for you but you keep the link.
If any packetloss or jitter is detected, the system proactively does increase the cost of the specific link to tell bird, to avoid it like a plague.

I got a bunch of servers in the baltics, none in Helsinki though, could setup me one up and report back.

Yes, and then another router decides to change path because of supposed latency threshold reaching, just in time to fuck my connection, this happens in cascades, it is like when the power grid is overloaded, an overloaded line goes down, the flow switches to another branch which becomes overloaded in turn... It takes many seconds to settle somewhat.

At least that I am guessing to be happening as it is usually at peak hours.

It has a dynamic interval, depending on network conditions.
If for some reason you have packet loss or enough jitter, it just terminates all waits and limits for a minute.
It runs as fast as 5s intervals to push out routing updates.

It goes full retard at this point.
Why do think it uses roughly 500-800GB of traffic on idle when I got about 90 links.

  • MaouniqueMaounique Host Rep, Veteran

As I said, this happens in cascades, I have been watching to see what could be improved, but it looks like the other people responsible for routing are making tweaks as well. What worked yesterday, didn't work today, the cascades still happen, but it looks like the intervals between them grew larger and only some destinations, such as Greece keep getting DCed often. When it started I didn't finish logging and was DC again, sometimes while logging, last night was quiet, but the evening still had some bumps.

    Ppl are adapting and tweaking.

Actually, everyone is going to be right blaming China and Russia since they are unlimited best friends.

    [narrative nonsense]

I'm not willing to derail this thread just to shed some light on your narrative based BS, sorry. Except for one point: NO, I didn't tell you to be quiet. I told you to discuss those issues in the appropriate thread (the Russia-hater thread).
That's not the same, but then I wouldn't expect someone like you to be able to differentiate.

The first sentence in what you said to stop molesting Russia:

I suggest that instead of endlessly molesting Russia you (~western eu-ropean countries) rather come to their senses. If push comes to shove that is, when your attempts to get into a nuclear war with Russia finally bear fruit, danmark will survive (figuratively speaking) about 5 minutes, the UK simply will cease to exist.

Since molesting Russia makes absolute no sense and this is a discussion forum, the rational conclusion is you wanted people to stop talking about Russia.

It's weird you never heard of "mutually assured destruction". I suggest you look that up instead of thinking Russia has their nuclear act together.

"Horrible accident" indeed, fucking spineless EU.

Accuse of sabotage, but not having balls to name the accused.

Poland should take over the leadership in military matters at EU grounds, nobody else is capable seemingly for any kind of communication or reactions without USA saying something first.

Even Merkel had more manhood than this current Olaf Scholz.
