    I just hope it's expensive as I don't need even more storage to idle as I'm already idling 6 TB from @host_c and I'm not sure I could resist a really good deal.

    Generally, very nice, knowing that the storage is not overbooked at all makes the VPSes (in my opinion) even better, but are you sure you don't mean preallocation=full?
    Neither in the manpage for qemu-img nor in the source code is any mention of preallocation=on, and on my machine qemu-img create -f raw -o preallocation=on test 1G fails.

    preallocation
 Preallocation mode (allowed values: off, falloc, full).  falloc mode preallocates space for image by
 calling  posix_fallocate().   full  mode  preallocates space for image by writing data to underlying
 storage.  This data may or may not be zero, depending on the storage location.

    Of course it could also be some Proxmox specific thing, but I didn't find anything about it in the docs either.

    And I have now added @host_c to the list of providers I recommend (based on prices, support and uptime) (see my signature).

    XXck I did forgot about that. ( too bad, will have to swap out the FTL engines and go with impulse only, drop the shields on this one, cargo bay will get flushed to the VOID )

    I'll happily take one for the original price if it's still on the cards 😏 if you want to sneak one "under the table", not quite idling but I need some cheap high capacity storage to store all my photos from my new camera. So not high usage either. RAW photos take a shit ton of space and I'm getting trigger happy with my new cameras burst mode.

    did you ever have to deal with raw videos? it still hurts my drives

    Not yet, it's a pretty recent adventure back into dslr/mirrorless. In the few weeks I've had it im already at a few hundred gb's of photos. I could and should delete some but eh thats a later problem
