Any gateway to accept Alipay in UAE?

HannanHannan Member, Host Rep

Hi everyone,

We're looking to add Alipay to our payment gateways, but Stripe in the UAE doesn't offer this feature, and it seems that Alipay isn't directly supported either.
Does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks!

  • Have you looked at Adyen? They might limit your payment methods if your company is registered in UAE, though.

I went down that rabbit hole, even ali pay suggested some local banks. I did reach out to the banks and they had no clue at all about it.

Good news though is, we are doing it through Paddle. You have to only accept it for chinese customers and it can be used for single payments not recurring. Reach out to them :)

Their fees are very high. That's a bit of problem.

Yes, however unfortunately, that was our only option as we no longer want to work with paypal directly.

Any reason you discontinued working with PayPal?
was it because of their fees? or did they do another one of those fund holding

  • You can try such solutions, although in the UAE there are at least 2-3 more companies that provide such a service at the moment

This picture is probably older than many members of this forum. The legacy of now closed PaypalSucks.com/.org:

  • It could be worth reaching out to Stripe's support for advice or updates on future support for Alipay.

For future reference. You can use Payssion, and it works like a charm.

+1 for payssion, we also added it 1 year ago.
It helped us alot in replacing paypal.
Payssion has various payment options for diff diff countries including alipay for China.
They also have alipay HK but for that you need company in HK, US, and both cant be enabled in same website URL so its basically impossible to use both Alipay HK and china.
So we enabled Alipay China only.

Now we have payssion + stripe which totally replaced paypal, still have few client who demand paypal, but its less than 1% of total clients.

UAE is a base of Chinese scammers, so, i don't think it's very easy to accept Alipay in UAE
