Serverpoint closed my account without warning. Does anyone know why?

A few days ago, I saw a promotion on Lowendtalk and bought nine servers from them.

Today, I wanted to purchase a non-promotional server, so I added $5 to my account via PayPal. However, when I tried to build the server, an error message stated that my payment method was under verification. Consequently, I opened a support ticket for assistance.

Without any notification, they closed both the ticket and my account.

I have purchased many servers from sellers on Lowendtalk before but never encountered such issues.

Now I'm unable to contact them or log into my account. Frustratingly, I haven't even started using the servers yet.

Does anyone know why?

Update Payment Details from PayPal and one invoice from them:

I don't have other invoices because at the beginning, I can't receive any email from them. After I opened a ticket, I was able to receive the emails.

Sure, the best psychic are already preparing a detailed report for you

  • No pictures :) you should capture your paid invoice and your ticket (usually sent to email when you create it)

They closed my ticket and account. I think if they want to verify anything, they should contact me instead of closing everything without any notification.

  • Let me ask my parrot. He's a bit uptight and only answers regarding dedicated servers but let me see what he says after I open the cage.

I have uploaded the screenshots from PayPal and one of the invoices. No more invoice because at the beginning, I can't receive their emails. After I opened a ticket, I was able to receive the emails from them.

    Thanked by 1harris1111
  • I emailed them on your behalf, and they told me it's because you ordered on a day of the week ending with the letter y. Sorry :(

Users who purchase promotion servers may not be eligible to open tickets. :/

  • Unless you ask them, it is unlikely that you will understand the reason behind it. Such sudden account closures typically happen due to fraud. Be sure to check if there is an issue somewhere that you are not aware of.

Were you doing anything on these nine servers that led to manual verification and account closing?

Thank you. I'm working on it. And I have bought more than 70+ servers from many sellers with the same payment method, never met problem like this.

I didn't even finish the setup of these servers. The problem occurred after I topped up with my paypal account. But they didn't ask me anything.

May be your location and numbers of servers orders led to manual review.

Nine Servers itself is a Red Flag

:| Instead of closing the account, they should set a limit on it. This would be much better. I have opened a ticket without logging in; let's see their response.

Again, if someone orders 9 servers in itself is a Red Flag

if I need to order servers > two, I would reach out to the provider explaining my use case and answer any questions provider may have.

This is reasonable. But I never experienced situation like that. Next time I will try to do the same thing. Luckily, I didn't deploy them to my project. Without any notification, closing the account will cause a lot of trouble.

Maybe that was your problem and you got hacked. Did you have ssh password login disabled?

  • Do both email address match? (PayPal and account?)

Nah, nine servers is fine, closing account without any notice is a red flag.

It's impossible. I changed ssh password to a strong password and limit IP access. Only my IP can login the server.

No. If verification is required, they should indicate it and ask me directly, such as verifying my PayPal account. Instead, they closed my account without any notification.

Fortunately, I didn't start using those servers; they would have caused many problems.

Just checking. Have they refunded anything then as it appears you've paid for nine servers but only had a few days use?

If they haven't sent any emails as to how you've breached any terms, I'm not sure how fair that is.

What was the offer out of curiosity? Do nine servers exceed the capacity of a single node they're using for the offer?...

Until now, I didn't receive anything about the reason of closing my account. And I didn't receive refund.
I ask people here because I don't understand why these sellers act this way.
And their offer is big bandwidth machine, they created a page for Lowendtalk.

I've seen this a number of times with various providers..

"We've terminated your account after a thorough investigation. The decision is final and there is no appeal. We will not be providing any more information about this."

Yep.. "thorough investigation" without asking any questions.. Some providers don't want the business but won't actually say so.

Will never admit there may have been a mistake either.

  • Update: After I create a ticket through their ticket system. They reactivated my account. And they said the reason was that they can't verify my orders. They are working on it and going to give me an explanation.

I understand that merchants may take some measures to prevent fraud, but stopping without any notice is not a good way to handle it.

  • @LETGNEHC said: can't verify

    Verifying PayPal purchases? That's new.
