This is impacting every provider who utilizes Multacom in the Aon Center building, aka our Los Angeles DC-02 location, I just posted on here as well (pasted below): https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/198775/mc-datacenter-network-issue

As for our website itself, the SolusVM API is facing elevated usage levels due to an increase in customers attempting to reboot their services. We are working on releasing a fix for this.

Our Los Angeles DC-02 datacenter (Multacom) is facing a facility outage, we are currently looking into this further with Multacom. We will update once we have additional information to share regarding this matter.

UPDATE: There is an active incident on the 61st floor of the Aon Center building. The Los Angeles Fire Department is on-site. This event has not affected our upstream provider, which is located on a different floor within the facility. However, as a precautionary measure, the building's power has been turned off pending further direction from the Los Angeles Fire Department. We will share further updates as they become available. Rest assured, we are in close communication with Multacom, and are taking all necessary precautions to bring services back online as soon as possible.

Great question, all with the exception of one server (related to our shared/reseller offerings in DC-02) are back online. VPS nodes are still being brought online (though huge progress has been made).

Further updates will be posted on our status page.

I can confirm that this particular server is still offline, we're working on restoring said server, along with others per status. Further updates to follow via status.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and understand that downtime, such as this one, despite the cause, is impacting to business operations.

Hi @john_sd3 -- Power is being rolled out/restored by the datacenter provider, Multacom, in phases throughout the entire facility. Hundreds of RackNerd's physical hypervisors have already been powered back on, and are online. At the time of writing this message there are less than < 75 physical VPS hypervisors and 1 shared hosting node that is still pending power to be turned back on, and we are working closely to coordinate this with Multacom as soon as feasible. We do not see any data related concerns or issues at this time, and the hypervisors that did get powered back on so far remain healthy.

  • Thanks for keeping us informed. Can't be helped. Sensible to turn off the power.

My VPS came back online but mysteriously three out of the ten websites weren't working. They were showing the Apache 2 default page (it all runs on Cyberpanel), despite all the files being in place. The sites certainly were working up until the outage.

Support has said it isn't their concern as it's an unmanaged server. So I've moved the problem sites to hosting with a different company for the moment until I can find out more.

Not very impressed to be honest. I've been hanging about all morning waiting to make sure everything came back online. The hosting is up for renewal next month so I'll review the situation then.

  • In 2-3 years I have faced only this one long downtime. still not much long though.

I am satisfied with Racknerd service.

  • Support just replied and said one of the sites is now online. Obviously didn't read my reply where I said I had moved the three sites to a server in Chicago so they would be online until I work out what the issue is :s I've had my own hosting since the 1990s and sometimes this is God's way of telling you that it's time to move on to hosting new :D

Hi @RFord -- It is true that our VPS services are unmanaged by default, and not all of our technicians may be fully versed in every customer's specific setup. I understand how situations like this can make you feel we should provide some extra support, and we truly recognize the impact this has had on your business. This particular event involved a widespread facility outage, which limited our ability to offer software or OS-related assistance across all unmanaged environments. The good news is that servers/infrastructure are now coming back online, and we restored power as quickly and safely as possible, prioritizing human safety throughout the process.

However, based on what you describe, I believe I may know what the issue is and it sounds like a pretty quick fix. Since CyberPanel uses OpenLiteSpeed by default, it’s possible that the issue might stem from the default Apache2 service being turned on upon reboot (especially on Ubuntu/Debian systems). If Apache2 was inadvertently started during the reboot, it could be overriding OpenLiteSpeed and serving the default Apache page instead of your sites, as CyberPanel utilizes OpenLitespeed.

You can check if Apache2 is running and stop it to allow OpenLiteSpeed to properly serve your sites again. A quick command to check would be:

    sudo systemctl status apache2

If it’s active, you can stop and disable it with:

    sudo systemctl stop apache2
    sudo systemctl disable apache2

    After that, restart OpenLiteSpeed:

    sudo systemctl restart lsws

Let me know if this helps, you're welcome to DM me as well with your information and I'll be happy to take a look :)

Hi @waheed -- DC-02 has been a very popular location of ours, most recently inventory was added but also quickly sold out. If you're looking for a one off deal, get in touch [email protected] and I'll see what I can do :)

  • Thanks Dustin that seems to have fixed the problem! This must be something to do with Cyberpanel now offering Apache as reverse proxy.

  • @dustinc unrelated to the current issue but why do you have different payment methods for add funds and pay invoice? i want to add some funds by indian payment methods but your support tells me that is only available in invoices? i don;t see why that should be the case

  • I migrate some of my vps from cloudcone to racknerd, but I will use seattle, dallas, sanjose,as most of my vps with racknerd are in los angeles.

  • Mine is still down, so I guess I'm on one of the machines with the failed RAID. At least it's not as dramatic it might have been... As soon as I read LAFD, I was imagining another OVH situation!

  • Still down for me too, as we approach 3 days offline.

@dustinc can you give any detail on LAXSSD840nerd2DC02? It is hosed or still in the queue for repair?

Hi @dzzzzz - this particular node is still in the queue, if it is confirmed to be dead, without the possibility of being saved, we will for sure update you via ticket, though I have hope. Thank You so much for your patience. If you do happen to have backups, and are interested in proceeding with your DR plans, we can help with that too.
