E5-2699v4 - SMT (Simultaneous Multithreading) - Enabled or Disabled
So, on this new colo server when I started installing AlmxLinux, a small warning popped on the bottom of the installer screen:

Clicking on details takes me to:

I am curious whether its advisable to disable SMT (Simultaneous Multithreading)? Has anyone seen major performance degradation?
This is the first time I am seeing this warning, so bit unsure what way to go.

It depends on your application. Certain software will specifically tell you that performance is better with HT/SMT disabled. In most cases, having it enabled is the way to go.
Ahh. Ok. Maybe I'll wait till I have this fully setup in the coming days.
Thank you.
This is enabled/disabled in BIOS. You can do it at anytime after everyone is setup.
Multiple providers (ioflood, purevoltage, and others) have reported crashes with the 2699v4 due to a microcode bug:

I am not saying you will be impacted for certain, but just something to be mindful of.
