if i start with the vortex for a month because i don't have any experience with you yet, could i switch to the annual payment model (=90€/year) later?

Yes, you can switch to annual payment at any time as long as you have purchased the server in this offer, the renewal option with the Lifetime discount is available on the server.

Hello @FameSystems, I have similar question to him and got the answer. I'm going to give a try here.
One more thing I want to ask: If I switch from 1 month to annual plan (12 months) later on, will I still get 2 months discount? Thanks!
Btw, I have some more stuffs need to discuss with you directly (just to be more convenient and to save the time). How can I reach you?

You can renew your Products and select 12 Month, there you will get the 2 free months as well.
You can either write us a direct message, open a ticket in our webinterface or ask here.

More than half of the packages have already been sold and there are not many left.
So if you want to get one before they are out of stock, you should hurry.

Is there an ETA on it if I want to order now? Or do I need to make a ticket. Or just pay the VAT for now

The ultimate RDP test .... running YT video at 2k resolution at full screen
Again, this is a test to show VPS computing power, not a use case

    .

    Thanked by 1ryzen
  • Been with them since their first offer here. Support always quick to answer my tickets and also no issues with downtimes or anything. There was a time where the disk speed was really slow / IOPS bad but within minutes after reaching out to support they put me on new disks! Definitely happy considering the offer, price and support so far!

Hi @FameSystems, I'm wondering a few things as below:
    1. The upload speed is just around 2x-4x Mbps while the download speed is always 15xx-16xx Mbps.
    2. According to what @dev_vps has shared, the ping is about 2x while mine is around 8x.
    3. The windows server is not activated.
(For 1 and 2, I have done many tests and the results are the same).
Could you help me to make them clear?
    Thanks

The speed test server is Ashburn, VA. Try some other server, bit closer, in Europe, say in London or Amsterdam.

Windows Server licensing is not included.

I've got it, thank you very much @dev_vps.

Btw, the site famesystems.de is actually fast when I visit from Asia, it really makes me impressed so I decided to register a VPS here. I will have 2 websites, one is aiming to America and Europe, one for Asia. Can I use this VPS to place the site that traffics are almost from Asia (especially South East Asia, such as Viet Nam, China, Singapore, Malaysia...), or I should look for another one? - Maybe the traffic is just little.
FYI, I'm using Hawkhost shared hosting for almost 10 years and the speed from my country (Viet Nam), the uptime as well as their services are actually very good, the due date is still available to 2026. I'm just looking for an alternative solution that may be more suitable for my biz in the future (you may know that Hawkhost's VPS price is not attractive).
So, could you please give me an advice @dev_vps, @FameSystems.
P/S: There will be any problem with the unlicensed Window Server in the future? And will it affect the performance?
Sorry if they are bothering you, I'm newbie to VPS.
    Thank you and best regards!

I tried other servers and found that the upload speed are never as good as you mentioned (except London and Amsterdam). Above are some example, can I assume that it's the server issue?

And the result when I ping from my pc to my hawkhost shared hosting and to this new vps:

When a Windows Server does not respond to ping requests, it is typically because ping (which uses ICMP) is often blocked by the server’s firewall settings, regardless of whether a web server or similar service is installed. By default, Windows Server is configured to block incoming ICMP echo requests to enhance security.

The presence of a web server or similar service does not directly impact ICMP responses. ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol) is a network protocol independent of other services like web servers. Therefore, unless the firewall rules are adjusted to allow ICMP traffic, the server will not respond to ping requests, even if other services are running.

To receive a ping response, you would need to configure the server’s firewall to allow ICMP echo requests.

No, you can't expect the speed from Germany to another country in Europe is the same as to countries in different continents.

The speed test result depends on the speed and location of the server you choose. You should choose servers with good internet speed to test.

@thoiht said: P/S: There will be any problem with the unlicensed Window Server in the future?

You can get a license for a few bucks (stacksocial.com, allkeyshop.com, etc..). It's a bit of a gray area - MS doesn't like it, but EU legislation, for example, does, and those keys work. I wouldn't use it on my company PC (dealing with the market inspectorate visits with only stacksocial invoice in hands may be tiresome), but for a personal computer seems okay.

As said Microsoft doesn't like it, but there was an Court of Justice of the European Union ruling that allowed the sale of previously owned licenses within EU and EEA:

    https://curia.europa.eu/jcms/upload/docs/application/pdf/2012-07/cp120094en.pdf

The CJEU judgement in Case C-128/11 UsedSoft GmbH v Oracle International Corp. says that “An author of software cannot oppose the resale of his ‘used' licences allowing the use of his programs downloaded from the internet. The exclusive right of distribution of a copy of a computer program covered by such a licence is exhausted on its first sale.”

This means that the sale of “used” and redundant software products is legal. This judgement created a safe, legal framework for the whole European Union ensuring a fair and healthy competition on the European market.

    The judgement also states that:

    • Perpetual software can be traded freely = the ownership right can be transferred from one acquirer to another.
    • The distribution rights of the producer are exhausted upon the first sale of the software. Customers who bought a computer program on a free market are entitled to use the purchased software and then sell it further (for example to a software broker such as Forscope) provided that they uninstall it and no longer use it.
    • Even if the resale of software is specifically forbidden by a license agreement between the manufacturer (= the copyright holder) and the first acquirer, the manufacturer cannot oppose the resale of that copy. The license agreement is subject to the European law and points which are in conflict with the European law are void.
    • There is no difference between the manners of distribution. Software can be distributed by a physical carrier (e.g. CD, DVD) or online (= digitally). The copyright holder cannot demand remuneration for further resale of the software copy because the appropriate remuneration was obtained during the first sale.

    and

A recent European Court of Justice (ECJ) decision has confirmed that organisations can resell "used" software licences, regardless of whether they were purchased in a physical form or downloaded from the internet.
In addition to opening up greater competition in the software market and allowing organisations legitimately to source additional software licences from the second-hand market (as opposed to from an authorised reseller), the decision also means that organisations may be able to make better use of the intellectual assets on their balance sheet.

    Thanks anyway.

It's a bit weird your numbers are lower than yabs, are you running speedtest directly on server or you are running it locally via e.g. vpn to server?
