Whos your storage provider for personal files?
Obviously Google Drive, Onedrive and Dropbox are the main ones. But interested in would you go for services like Hetzner storage or pcloud.
Obviously i have a nas but im talking about a second backup. Is it safe to just have a vps server with ssh and firewall that only responds to your ip and just dump files there with rclone?
interested what people are doing from a privacy stand point? are you storing it in specific countries or certain vps providers?

I use Hetzner storage box for personal files backup. Never had any problem for years.
What do you mean by safe? rclone also has an encryption feature.
Proton Drive
Proton Drive has been great for me, too. I have Proton Unlimited. Makes everything convenient. 500 GB is more than enough storage, and that + everything else for only $100/yr? Yeah it's a no-brainer.
I have Proton Business
For 1TB is billed at $71.91 for the first 12 months
I use nextcloud from Hosthatch Sweden 2TB since 2021
We have Private Seafile hosted on GreenCloud Chicago (9999 plan, 99GB NVMe).
There's daily backup to HostBrr Falkenstein (Hybrid NAT series, 1000GB HDD).
Both servers have adequate performance and stability.
The primary server is unencrypted, although the most sensitive files are stored as password-protected ZIP.
The backup is encrypted through rclone crypt driver.
CloudAtCost backing up to C1V
/s
idrive e2 + cryptomator
Holy shit, CaC still exists!
Localhost on a nas, with weekly if not monthly sync to another hdd cabinet for cold storage.
The most important data ~80GB encrypted and sync to a hosthatch storage server.
Heard a lot of people are using @host_c 's storage VPS, +1 for provider
how and where is this deal?
It's showing as 40% off for me here: https://proton.me/business/plans
https://proton.me/business/drive#pricing
edit: what @Xrmaddness said. Slow to post again hah
ihostart + rclone w/ encryption
Hostc.
5 tb at $8/month.
It’s possible to get Proton Business for individuals?
I said in another thread here..
I setup a non-profit with a Google Workspace account, I was allowed to keep an account as a SHTF recovery method and as a thank you, I can use the storage.
I do a TNO backup backup to the drive, as long as I stay under 100TB I won't have issues (the account has 200TB). Filenames, directory names, metadata are all encrypted with a key I control.
In my books, that's abuse of generosity from others.
Abuse of Google?
They won't use more than 5TB in the next decade and Google gave them 200TB. I'm using 15-20.
If someone else believes it is abuse of generosity, they'll kill my the account. If that happens, I'll backup somewhere else.
Used many platforms like idrive e2 , backblaze but their performance is not that good as they do not have any dc in asia location and performance is very poor. Just started using storj and their performance and security seems amazing
He's actually my first storage provider and long term archives are idrive e2 + cryptomator.
host_c with luks is amazing speed.
OneDrive
Cloudflare R2
Yes, they gonna ask you more only if you go up to Enterprise.

Don't forget to choose USD. :-)
I got the 1Tb lifetime offer at Koofr on Stacksocial. I use their vault. I can't complain.
But most files are on Onedrive.
Self-hosted nextcloud with S3 compatible drive attached to it.
Encrypted storage in Koofr.
iDrive and I'm fine with it
deal still available?
