Fastmail.com, $5/mo and it includes everything you need.
Truth of it is even CardDAV and CalDAV really aren't that great, and they really don't get that much support these days. Properly integrated calendars and contacts works best when 100% into one ecosystem with their own apps and such. It's all downhill once you venture outside of that. That's why I just keep my calendar/contacts with Google/Apple.
fm is solid but to expensive.
I don't like mailbox.org in general.
if you are too lazy to deal with the company and the people behind mailbox and are also naive enough to entrust your mails, calendars etc. to such a company, you can't be helped anyway.
I like mailbox.org, and I'm not bothered that their owner's focus is oriented toward social and ecological responsibility, humanism, etc. It's true that the owner supports various anti-fascist initiatives, but that's only a plus in my eyes.
However, this doesn't make the service itself better or worse, as personal beliefs are separate from the fact that the company, with 20+ employees, is very active in the anti-surveillance space and openly supports anti-data retention groups, TOR networks, and similar initiatives.
I can imagine that some neo-Nazi groups might be concerned about being hosted by a company whose owner doesn't share their beliefs, but apart from that, there's no proof that the company has done anything wrong.
now the big defamation guns are being raised. it's not about neo-nazis, eco-nazis or anything else, but about the fact that an email service has committed itself to a political agenda. in order to implement this agenda, the provider has to look into the emails to identify disagreeable users or their incorrect opinions. and that's where the problem begins. in my opinion, a keen eye must be present here. if you have this and still entrust yourself to a provider who is not neutral, then that's okay because you have made a conscious decision to do so. my issue is to look into the - freely accessible - background of companies in order to be able to make a qualified decision as to whether you trust this company or not.

Have been a customer for years and the service they provide was always top notch. Has replaced google mail for my private emails.
I have a problem with your post. There isn't a single incident, proof, or any evidence that this mail provider has profiled clients based on their political stance. It's your own theoretical concept, simply because you don't share the same values as them.
To be clear, you're accusing them of doing something that, by your own knowledge, they haven't done, and you're tarnishing their good name based on that.

I don't have any contacts secured in inbox so can't tell you. Spam filter is pretty good so far, sometimes a spam email slips through but not many false positives imo

BTW it seems that it automatically classifies some emails in the "lists" folder, but that includes notifications from Github, which I want to receive in the inbox instead. How do I change that? I cannot find it

If i remember correctly they had some while ago a 3 year deal for about 30€
For disabling the "lists" folder go here: https://email.inbox.eu/prefs/interface and uncheck "Automatically filter messages to Social and List folders"
It's very expensive and it doesn't even support open standards unless something has changed recently. It's not the typical email hosting service IMO.

Hey has interesting features, but the pricing OMG. 12/user/month if you want to use custom domains. And it doesn't even support IMAP lol. You can only use their own apps. That pricing given the limitations is absolutely nuts.

I follow the founder of that because of another application (campfire from 37signals). That is where I learned about hey, but yeah, pricing for domains is insane
I am a Rails dev and normally like DHH and the stuff that 37signals done, but this is really overpriced IMO.

I am trying to order the plan in the image. It clearly says "Uses your own domain" .
However, I feel like they meant "Uses your own domain that your purchase from us"
The renewal prices on the domains kinda suck though.
