Find a server that can be used for video transcoding
Hi, as the title says, I'm looking for servers that can be used for video transcoding. My budget is $30 a month. Have at least 4 exclusive cores, no less than 100g of storage, more than 4G of memory, at least 100mpbs of unlimited bandwidth, and no geographical restrictions. Do you know of a suitable option? Please help me.

Go for Hetzner dedicated server
https://crunchbits.com/vds/ryzen-7950x
Pick "Spokane" as the location, slide the slider over, and for $28 you can get
8GB DDR5 ECC RAM // 200GB NVMe Storage // 40TB Bandwidth @ 2.5Gbps // [2C/4T] Ryzen 7950X
It'll be faster than most "4 cores" offered elsewhere and it's a VDS, so it's yours to use full force.
(40TB is more than 100mpbs used 100% for a month.)
What sort of resolution will you be looking to transcode and are you transcoding+streaming or strictly transcoding?
It's not certain. It's not streaming transcoding.Thank you.
I am very glad to get your reply, I will consider it carefully.
If it's just strictly transcoding - that Crunchbits VDS would work out great and hit your budget
If you're going to stream+transcode - you should look into their Dedicated Xeon w/ QuickSync
Mini Dedis from @PulsedMedia maybe?
As couple of above users mentioned... Crunchbits VDS would be the better & Cheaper option for transcoding....
i am looking for almost same thing but lower budget. i found avoro vds cheapest so far. 4gb ram is more then enough for my encoding work and 10TB bw is also enough. my budget is around 15-20.
This looks better because it comes with intel's GPU, which can be used for acceleration
@PulsedMedia or the dedicated ryzen apu box from @DataIdeas-Josh
The PulsedMedia mini-dedi page says "Due to being in development there is only Debian 11 as distro choice" just for whatever it's worth.
Program using python and ffmpeg, only debian11 or not a problem, I want to know from the purchase to boot how long it takes?
Hi,
if interesting:
4x dedicated Ryzen 7950X3D vCores
16 GB RAM DDR5 ECC
480 GB NVMe diskspace ( 1000 IOPS & 250 MB/s limit )
5Gbit connectivity incl. 50 TB Traffic
Price per month: 29,- EUR
Or with 8 GB RAM = 24,90 EUR
Serverlocation: Germany Frankfurt/Main
All depends on how many video (hours duration) and resolution you are looking to transcode.
Sword will be overkill , if the tool for the task is just a knife.
When you only have a sword, everything in front of you looks like a sausage.
Here's an AMD EPYC VDS which fits your budget perfectly:
They also have two (4c / 16GB / 150GB) and four times (2c / 8GB / 70GB) smaller VDS offers, which cost 2 and 4 times less as well.
All these plans are stackable.
If you want just cheaper AMD VDS, then have a look at this one:
It fits your memory and transfer requirements.
At the same time for $15 you can get a two times bigger plan from them with all the resources dedicated as well.
Kinda sketchy given it went EOL a couple months back.
it can be upgraded easily to 12.7 version
This speed limit applies to upload only, the download speed is 1 gig from day one.
People are lazy. Better just to not have it as an option at all.
if someone is lazy not to even run a simple script …. well, then more power to their laziness
Not everyone keeps up on OS versions. If you purchase something, its on the provider to provide the template. To offer an EOL version of something and the only way to be safe is to upgrade it to the latest version, and it requires the user to do it manually - wouldn't it make sense to just have the latest version available as a template?
Indeed our MD Series Dedis hit the OP's needs perfectly, thanks @BilohBucks

Here are 30€ or under options right now;
Hey boss, I have purchased your 7500 t + 16g + 1 tnvme server. It seems that your payment gateway is a little slow, but I did pay. How long will it take to complete the boot?
Checkout our ryzen 9 5950x VDS
Germany

Will be delivered within 5 business days as the page tells.
If you used crypto; It is slow by nature.
Thank You For Choosing Pulsed Media
Hello, there is an 1Gbps Dedicated Bandwidth Option @ ±20€ a month in the order form. Can it be used 24/7 without issues (330TB in + 330TB out) ?
Thanks!
Yes, that's what it means. But no guaranteed; No one can guaranteed you can upload at 1Gbps to a 56k dialup in rural India.
