I'm not, can you tell me what that means?
Great for you. For today. If you've been around since 2016 you'll know the next sequence of events:
Basically it appears that "making the most money" is more important for you than being able to reach a public with the content.
Basically it's the same as with downloading music/movies. The majority of people who do it wouldn't buy it otherwise - i.e. they probably wouldn't visit the site if adblockers don't work. And yes, some money is lost, but on the other hand, quite some music/movies become popular of it - so the good stuff will be bought in the end, as it is with visiting sites, and that generates a bit more income again.
It's not very hard to detect the usage of an adblocker, it's only really when you're trying to fight it (and the people who make the blocklists are trying to bypass it):
For example you can do something like
try { await fetch("/s.ashx?btag") } catch(e) { if (e.message.includes('Failed to fetch')) console.log ('adblocker!!!') }and it'll detect anyone who's using an adblocker with the EasyList blocklist (which is basically everyone because it comes by default on most adblockers)It even works in Falkon, crazy stuff.
why would you want users to return that refuse to compensate you for your efforts?

Give up! We will bypass all your blocks. Resistance is futile!
Anti ad blocker. Anti anti adblocker. Anti anti anti adblocker. Alt+F4. Oops.
That doesn't answer the asked question.
Yes, but you don't understand that there is no permanent cure, you can control how to unblock and they can control within an hour or two how to block. It's a war without an end dude !
When you skip it after a few hours you will be blocked again dude ... there is no end, everything goes round and round!
That's right buddy !
There are millions of us who would visit your site, admire your work and spread the word around, but now we won't. Once the number of visitor hits starts to decline, it will be too late. We will either bypass all your blocks or turn to your competition.
Either way, it's a battle you can't win. Resistance is futile!
I just visited with my adblocker enabled.
To name one downside:
I've had some (most probably) genuine feedback from folks who didn't know how to disable their ad blockers. That didn't feel right so I said "fuck it" and gave up on anti ad blocking.
Didn't have enough time to compare numbers and see if the anti ad-blocking makes a significant difference.
The adblock on Falkon can't be disabled, it's an anti-ad fortress. Except that most filter rules don't work at all.
FWIW, I'm not even against advertising. It's just I don't like multiple 3rd parties knowing I'm reading your blog. Even non-ad network stuff is blocked. I block Google analytics, meta widgets, etc.
I'd rather just see ads served in-house.
And sure, years ago I had a pretty nice anti ad-blocking advertising system purpose built to serve ads in-house on a forum site. It achieved two things: Kept the profit with me, not giving a percentage to BuySellAds and it didn't allow 3rd parties like Google to serve ads I don't approve, while also keeping requests contained to just my site. The way it defeated (many, but not all) ad blockers at the time was to be able to change the hostname and overall structure of the URL that served the ads as well as the clickable URL that tracked statistics for clicks. Could be x1.whateversite.tld/def/not/ads/banner.gif and then an hour later some.site.whatever.com/9akjda9sd/banner.gif with a change in hostname and folder structure. Updates were done manually but could have easily been done automatically to come out ahead on the blacklist whack-a-mole game that was sometimes played.
If you're going to do this go all out and just serve ads directly from businesses that actually want to pay you to put ads on your site instead of "ENTER YOUR ZIPCODE TO FIND AUTO RATES IN YOUR AREA" bullshit or something.
In my case, the earnings doubled!
You lie, you don't know the name of my website dude !!!
What is the name of the website buddy ?
How would I know if you don't know?
Or even when I disable my ad-blocker the message that I need to disable my ad-blocker doesn't go away.. Unless I am desperate for the site for some unknown reason, I don't bother anymore because the message often doesn't go away.
This happens because you have a double adblocker.
javascript disabled
regards
It would be useful for those who can only run the website for the ads. I went from $1000 or so per month down to now pennies the last few years.. it doesn't get as many views as it used to but it still gets enough traffic to generate several TBs of bw each month and I have to eat the cost just to keep the resource available.
That would be fabulous but few websites work w/o javascript alas.
I did it again
What should your answer mean and who is it addressed to buddy ?
This one feature makes it so I never use your website.
