How to move website to new domain without seo affect
Hi.
I see most of adult or pirated websites regularly change there domain name. But there traffic isn’t affecting. I have wordpress website which i want to change domain without loosing seo traffic. Since i want to try this on seo dependent website. So i tried on a pirated site. But traffic is loosing after 301 redirect via wp plugin. Is it because it is a pirated website or i am doing it wrong?
I need to do permanent domain redirect on a non-pirated non adult wordpress website. Suggestion from experienced people are welcome

Follow the steps here, that’s it: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9370220?hl=en
In addition to using the address change tool in Search Console, make sure you thoroughly test the wildcard redirects from your old domain to the new one.
Even if everything is perfect, temporary loss of traffic is normal. It should recover. How soon it would recover is always a mystery though. I've had sites recover within a few weeks, and some a few months.
thanks. it will help. also any pirate webmaster tips is also expected since they do it frequently.so real experience will be helpful.
Changing a website domain without losing search results is impossible. But if you work correctly, the losses will be small. And most importantly, temporary. It is impossible to guarantee complete preservation of positions. It is also impossible to indicate a drop in traffic in exact figures.
When changing a domain, the risk of losing positions and traffic increases significantly, because the pages will disappear from the search engine index for a while.
On average, positions are restored within 4-8 weeks. At first, traffic gradually drops, and then just as gradually increases. Peak average losses are 40-60%. There is no need to be afraid of side effects. But it is very important that the site transfer is carried out by experienced specialists who take into account all the nuances. In any case, it is necessary to spend time preparing a detailed checklist and working through all its points. It is better not to be lazy and carefully think through the route in advance than to clean up the consequences later.
What to pay attention to:
Unloading a site map. During the transition, it is important not to lose pages with traffic.
Updating addresses. Only the domain changes in the URL structure.
Forming a redirect table. All redirects must work correctly on the new domain.
Merge mirrors. After changing the domain, the site should not open at the old address.
Selecting the main mirror. There are tools for moving in the webmaster consoles.
It is also important to fix positions before the transfer and monitor the dynamics for several months after the migration is complete. The pages of the old domain will gradually disappear from search results, and new pages will take their place.
What to do after transferring the site:
Check broken links using Broken Link Checker and get rid of them;
Speed up page indexing using re-crawl tools in the webmaster consoles;
Use the dashboard in Google Data Studio to track the effectiveness of two domains;
Regularly check page indexing using Netpeak Checker.
Ahrefs check and finds internal and external broken links
When transferring a site to a new domain, problems with cyclic redirects often arise. Therefore, it is important to check that all site pages are loading and redirects are working, and only then open the site on the new domain for users.
You also need to build up the link mass for the new domain in advance. To do this, you can buy different types of links on link exchanges and use them.
On this site, for example - https://serpstat.com/ you can do a link analysis for your old domain or a competitor's domain. This way you will have a list of all domain names that link to your site. You can download this to an excel file and do this as many times as you like, comparing it with other sites to the maximum, which, for example, have good traffic and are higher than your site.
You can also use services to check the quality of links -
https://seranking.com
https://search.google.com/search-console/welcome?hl=ru&utm_source=wmx&utm_medium=deprecation-pane&utm_content=home
https://www.semrush.com
https://majestic.com/reports/site-explorer
https://ahrefs.com
For example, exchanges where you can buy links here (some of them have a large number of them) -
https://rookee.global
https://www.sape.ru/en/
https://www.linksmanagement.com
https://brandcitations.com
https://collaborator.pro
Which links are better to buy?
. By placement time: Rental - temporary, valid only with a subscription fee. They have lost their relevance now, they increase the risk of the site falling under the filter.
Eternal — one-time paid backlinks, are active permanently on donor sites while they exist. Purchasing eternal links is the most effective method in SEO promotion.
By placement location: End-to-end (footer, sidebar) — are simultaneously located on a large number of site pages. They are low-click and practically useless in promotion.
Article — SEO links that are located inside a specially prepared informational article. If the article contains useful material on the topic of the acceptor site and leads to a page relevant to it.
Crowd links — are placed in comments, reviews and recommendations on forums or thematic blogs. They are effective, since they are the most natural compared to other types. They often perform the function of diluting anchor links, since they are quite cheap.
Banner — links from an image, can be placed in animated or static banners. They are placed in articles or the sidebar of the site. They are also used to dilute the anchor list. But they are often cross-cutting.
Post links — are placed in blogs as a short recommendation article or advertisement about the customer's stated website. They have an advertising character.
News links — are placed on news platforms in the news text. Most likely indexed links due to the frequently updated content of the site.
Social links — links coming from social networking sites. Less effective, since they have the least weight for search engines.
You need to dilute the link weight of different types of links and also not give a large number of them at once, but a smooth gradual set in advance for about 2 weeks, this will make it possible to restore traffic on a new domain for your site many times faster.
How to correctly evaluate the link rating and what parameters to look at, read more on the Internet.
There are two main ways to request recrawling and indexing of your site pages in Google Search Console:
1. URL Inspection Tool. This tool allows you to submit individual URLs for recrawling by Google's search bot. To do this:
Go to the "URL Inspection" section in the Search Console menu.
Paste the URL of the page you want to crawl and click "Inspect URL".
The system will check the indexation status of this page.
If the page has already been crawled, there will be a "Request indexing" button at the bottom.
But keep in mind that this tool has a limit of up to 500 requests per day. It also does not guarantee immediate indexing.
Generate a Sitemap file.
Go to the "Sitemap" section in the Search Console menu.
Submit the Sitemap file there via the "Add sitemap" option.
After that, Google will start crawling and processing all URLs from the file for indexing.
In any case, a re-crawl request does not guarantee indexing. The content must be of high quality and comply with the search engine's principles.
Where to track page indexing
1. Google Search Console
These tools provide detailed statistics on the number of indexed pages, detected errors, and much more.
In Google Search Console, go to the "Index" → "Coverage" section. Here you will see statistics on indexed, blocked, and excluded pages, as well as graphs of the latest changes in the index.
Also Ahrefs, collects indexing data from search engines.
Also, to speed up the indexing of both the pages of the site itself and the links referring to it, you can, for example, use such services -
https://gindex.me/en/
https://indexinject.com
https://add-my-url.com
I hope in general terms I gave a general idea of how you can improve the transfer
And the last recommendation that I forgot to mention is that you need to add new content to the new domain immediately and use ping services to increase the indexing speed of both new pages and the entire site. But you need to take into account that during the transfer you do not have any technical problems, which I partially mentioned above.
Ping services can be like this -
https://pingomatic.com
https://pingler.com
https://mypagerank.net
There are many such services, but it is better not to abuse them - choose 5-7. You should also not add hundreds of addresses, choose only the most important ones, so as not to create an unnecessary load on the server. And the most important thing is that all this will help if your site was initially well technically and SEO-optimized.
I have done tons of migrations. When following the above steps we haven’t seen any major permanent traffic drops at all, only temporary.
Sure, long-term a very small % might have been lost. But nothing very notable.
@mcs thank you for your long information. It will help in any seo case.
Thanks @emgh your experience boosted my confidence to do such step as you said
301-redirect
It depends on what the site was made on - self-written code is one thing, or a framework like react native and others of that kind, php cms like wordpress and others of that kind is something completely different. Also, it has a big impact on how much the site was technically optimized earlier, what was the opening speed for the desktop version, mobile version, usability for users and what is its age in general. If the site is not young - the drop will be less noticeable and traffic will recover faster, if the site is 1-2 years old and less technically optimized according to Google recommendations, the drop will be noticeable and tangible. The method that I described will give an almost instant result and in most cases traffic can increase, especially if the domain has a long registration period, and the site is also not 1-2 years old.
backup old website via all in wp migrate plugin.
add new domain, install WP, install all in wp migrate plugin, also with a extension, restore all data, then again setup SEO plugin.
Done.
as a quick site transfer you can use this scheme, but a new domain and two site mirrors do not mean that the traffic will be the same there and there. And this will not eliminate the fact that the pages of the new site on the new domain will need to be indexed. But it must be admitted that the speed of the transfer will help to carry out faster. Although the SEO plugin on the new domain and with new site settings may not always work correctly after restoration
Lmao, a bunch of words but all totally false.
Justify it right away and then argue. Well, I'm not going to argue here or prove anything. If you have arguments, give them and that's it. And stop making unfounded claims that something is true that it isn't.
u think adult and pirate website got visitors from seo ? lol
they do. recheck traffic source at similarweb for those type of website.
