They've been notoriously bad for over 2 decades (1&1)
If you are truly unaware, it's a quick search away but if you want some personal anecdotes and you're a current client, I'll tell you ever last story I have about 1&1 and would happily help you find an alternative.

@layer7 also provides vps with like 25-50 TB of Bandwidth I think (correct me if I am wrong) and they are in fact quite cheap for the price.....

Me too been rocksolid for a year now, I use especially for VPN services. They did make a mistake with the invoice a couple of times but I didn't even had to send an email because they corrected it.
How much traffic per month and you need a shared or a dedicated network port and how much bandwidth you need, otherwise it's hard to recommend a provider or a product.
