@Maounique has a tutorial that you may find interesting: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/182736/basic-setup-of-proxmox-in-an-ovh-environment-kimsufi-example-with-nat-and-ipv6-enabled-containers/p1
Got a KS-4 with NVMe in GRA to test. No luck at the lottery (1Gb download is not really winning at the lottery anymore), and the Intel SSDs are 5 years old with like 60TB writes. But these SSDs are rated for petabytes so I guess they'll be ok. It's the same as for the other KS-4 i got before, the IPMI is java-only, and there is an option to buy more IPs.
How did you get a KS-4 with NVMe. When I look at the configuration tool, it shows the 32 GB RAM option is unavailable as is the NVMe option - all you can have is 16 GB with HDD.
I grabbed one when it was let go by another user, thanks to checkservers.ovh
Doesn’t seem to be much love for the SYS range this time around, I assume it’s because the kimsufi range is very good value in comparison
I have a KS-4 with 16GB RAM and 2x4TB HDD in the SBG, if anyone wants it let me know.
I did follow this and got IPv6 working (woo, thank you!). Is it expected that I get the ovh_ipv6::1 for every VM as my IP when using curl -6 ifconfig.me? Is that the limit of ovh for IPv6?
"Please note that Kimsufi servers are only provided with a single IPV6 block (/128). IPv6 will be configured automatically when installing the OS." but...
Interesting read...

Darn. Left it too late to get organised. Got to that point on the ToDo list tonight and find the KS1 with HDDs are in stock nowhere now. Oh well, given how long it took me to check back, I don't exactly need it desperately!
Not KS-4 but I was able to snatch a KS-1 in Poland and sadly I didn't get lucky on the lottery.
No HDD upgrade and no 1Gbps upload (not even on v6)
1Gbps DL?
I don't see a single comment from OVH, is OVH marketing guy laughing in corner putting KS-A😂😂
Please rephrase that, I didn't understand. I suggest you add the IP with the number of container/VM in proxmox. Like CT 100 will get IPv6::100 etc.
Turns out I needed the hwaddress on my interfaces config for V6 for it to properly route. Thank you very much both for the guide / link
got it working so that pfsense dishes out VM IPv6s
yep, if pfsense does the routing of IPv6, if you have tons of VM that might be a better idea, just that it is not worth it if you only have a small KS with a couple of containers.
Yes, that seems to be commonplace now (I think)
It's also advertised like that.
Waiting to join the 16TB club on RBX when a KS-1 or KS-2 pops up there. There might be a higher success rate there according to some other LET users.
I am wondering, what would happen if one of the four drives goes kaput? Would they replace it with a 2TB drive and leave the rest with 4TB drives?
They would do nothing and leave your server offline, because it's OVH and support doesn't exist. They will advice you to buy a VPS at Contabo, because it's also 4,50.
I don't think I've seen (yet) a 16T KS-1. Back when these servers were in the SYS range, I've only seen 4x4Tb on the Xeon D-1540. Now maybe that have changed now and OVH has no stock of 2Tb drives anymore (?).
If a disk dies, they will ask for the serial number and I think they'll replace it with the same model.
fire sale .
I saw a few 16TB on the old SYS using the 1520 cpu (don’t remember the SYS model) basically the new KS-1 so they will be a few out there assuming people let them go
If anyone has a
KS-2 32GB RAM, 2 x 450GB SSD, In France
or
KS-4 16GB RAM, 2 x 450GB SSD, In France
I would be interested in buying it.
Are you implying that if I got lucky with a 4TB drive they will replace it with another 4TB model instead of putting a 2TB drive as advertised for this server?
I have a KS-4, but 32GB, maybe consider a KS-3?
Thats exactly what happens, they won’t mix match the drives so during a replacement they will replace the drive with whatever other size is in there. DC techs don’t look at the model, they look at the server profile, which can be seen on the API. If it already had 4TBs in there, they would be none the wiser it was supposed to have 2TBs.
Is this API available public or internal only? So can I check my server? I got KS-LE-1 with 960 GB SSDs.
It's public:
Nope, in case of hardware failure they are pretty fast. They can even replace if a certain number of bad sectors occurs.
I have heard no bad stories about hardware issues that were left to linger, they obviously have a lot of spare parts, albeit old in many cases.
OVH is different from most companies when it comes to customer support. While many businesses treat you well till you make a purchase, then provide poor after-sale support, they do the opposite.
Their monitoring and server support is pretty decent.
