    Correct.

I also pushed a tweak to WHMCS this morning to append 2 digits to the end of every username, just to make sure it's unique and won't cause issues with the Migration Center.

But here is another issue I am getting.

"The domain you entered is already registered with us - you will need to cancel it prior to placing a new order"

    @NameCrane

The other guy's suggestion was correct. Just order with yourdomain2.com and we can change it later.

It is just a placeholder to generate a username.

WHMCS conflict is the main issue it seems like he's having, won't let you order 2 of the same type of services with the same domain. We can adjust billing/DA after migration.

Yes, that's probably common. I faced the exact same issue with another provider I won't name (it's an offer thread, I still have some manners).

The new premier: Not having 2 digits at the end of your username :D

People can ticket if it's bothersome and we'll remove it.

What happens is something like this:

    • User has a reseller with user, WHMCS generates the username 'blah'.
    • User has a shared user at another host, wants to migrate it to us, it's also with the username 'blah'.
    • The migration won't be allowed as it conflicts with the primary username, and the Namecrane side is a Reseller.

Shared->Shared, even with matching usernames, is fine. When we transfer a shared account we nuke the account on the Namecrane side first before we do the transfer. We can't do that with resellers though since that'll now nuke all the resellers sub users too.

Lots of little quirks/edge cases I had to think about, and more than a few were found after things got nuked when they shouldn't have.

  • Yes. Looked around a bit more and located it.
    Thank you nevertheless @ManishPant

  • @Francisco said: The only way we can get prices cheap is to force people to pay via account credit, and people make deposits ($100+)

That shouldn't be an issue for a reseller. NameSilo asks for min $50 deposit to get into that pricing tire. I can comfortably make $250 deposit.

Yeah, some digits are worth keeping in a username.

Sorry, left a question in a older thread of yours:

    Haven’t used WHM/DA reseller’s recently

Quick question: Is there any way to configure my own regular off-site backups that trigger from your end? I.e. not by having a script running that does them?

If so, what can be used as source?

And does it differ depending on cPanel/DA?

Directadmin has a “schedule backup” option for end users and it can for them to a remote node.

    1. Can that be done for the whole reseller at once?
    2. Does that, in any way, interfere with the backups you guys take (I assume not because the tool you mentioned is DA and you guys use JetBackup)?
    3. Is that as seen in some screenshots online FTP only?

@Francisco Did some Googling. I THINK the answers to my questions are:

    1. Yes
    2. No
    3. Yes

If possible, I’ll suggest a feature where, in addition to the backups you guys take, one can easily provide a S3 compatible storage and custom rules for their own off-site backups.

Nothing personal, I just don’t trust anyone with keeping my data safe. Not even myself.

We can enable s3 for jetbackups for resellers they just have to ticket. We don’t have an option for personal without building our own backup plugin.

So I can gain access to enter my own backup details and retentions etc in there?

    Both cPanel and DA resellers?

Would that interfere with the backups you guys run of my account?

    It doesn’t disrupt.

  • I was wondering which one would be optimal location for target audience in south asia and middle east. I have used another service and their SG location had very high ping. I am not there to test it myself so any help is appreciated. If I pick SG and response is too slow, will I be able to migrate to EU without changing DNS shenanigans?
